Crediting musicians whose songs are used in a soundtrack?

How should we do it, or shouldn't we? I checked The Beatles page and noticed that there are almost no credits under composer, even though I'm sure their songs have been used in a million movies. Can we list them under the composer section, or is that only for original scores?

I thought of that the other day. Not sure how to add someone to it since directors and writers get their own section. Maybe under the "self/appearance" tab in the credits section? Curious what everyone thinks about how we should handle this.

I never thought of that but I'm intrigued at the idea of crediting musicians on here if they're song is used in a film. IMDB doesn't do it and therefore if we did it, we would become even more superior to them. They are technically composers in some form so I like the idea.

@CrimsonAvenger: Imdb does actually do it, which is why it makes sense for screened to do so as well.

Composer still makes sense to me since they are technically contributing to the soundtrack, but I want to make sure we're agreed on this before going off and adding stuff.

@ashogo:

Dang it! I was hoping for once that our database was going to do something that IMDB wasn't doing so we could feel special.

It doesn't seem like anyone else has an opinion on this, so I'm just gonna go ahead and start crediting musicians.

Adding it to composer and putting in text details of what song they sang sounds good.

Put their credits under the 'Music' tab rather than the credits tab.

Also putting additional information in the text article under a 'Soundtrack' heading for someone who maybe did a track or two instead of composing the whole thing.

Submissions can take several hours to be approved.
