Introduction

Hey guys, the Oscars are coming in a few weeks and I thought it would be a good idea to put up some bounties for us to do. Right now there are 9 bounties up for grabs and each bounty is a movie nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars.

Why am I doing this?

Some users are not familiar with many of the movies being nominated and this would be a great way to help them get caught up. The Oscars are more fun when you know something about the movies rather than staring at an award show with vague movies awards being given to vague people. At the same time, a filled out page would help increase traffic by attracting people who are looking for more information on the movies nominated. With any luck those who find this site will stay and become users themselves.

Where do I find these bounties and how do I sign up for them?

You can find the bounties hovering your mouse on top of the help tab at the upper right hand corner of the page and clicking on the word wiki task. You can also just click this link to send you to the page. Once you are there, simply pick the movie that you want to edit. Then, on the movie page you have selected, click on the words "I'll work on this soon" and you will be set to work on that page. Once you are done click on the "I am finished working" option and a mod will close the page and award you the points if they find that the page meets the quality of that the site is looking for.

What should my page look like?

There are many guides posted on the site on how to format your page. See the below links:

Here is also a very good example of what a page should look like: The Dark Knight. Notice how all the images in the plot summary are consistently the same size. The images are also about as big as a paragraph and the text does not wrap around it like a snake, but sits right next to it. Outside the plot summary images should be medium size if goes next to a meaty paragraph (200 words or more) and small if it is a very small paragraph. The reason you do this is to draw the eyes of the reader to the bigger paragraphs by having bigger pictures.

What if I have a question, but the guides don't have the answer?

Then it is time that you send a moderator a private message. All you have to do is click on their page and click on the "PM" button under the word "Summary." Feel free to ask the mods anything.

The mods here at this site are:

Can I work on this with another person?

Yes, you may certainly do that. In fact, I encourage you to do so. I find that working with another person makes the completing the page faster and easier. Your partner can not only help you find facts, he can also proof reed your paragraphs and fact check your information.

@Acura_Max: Is there are turnaround time from when we click on the "I'll work on it soon" to when you want it completed? Obviously the sooner the better, but are you looking for 24 hours, 48 hours, etc.?

@rem25: I'm hoping to finish this before the Oscar ceremony. Since the Oscars are on February 24th, that should give us a few weeks. Otherwise, the sooner the better.

Great idea, I think I did this last year and had some great wiki pages come from it.

The better of a job you Pups do the more points we can award you, so do something special with a page and it may just be worth it!

The number of bounties is going down. Don't let VioletEyedDragon and mike20 take all the credit for themselves.
