Podcast tips?

Hey Screened community! So I've been thinking for awhile I would like to do my own podcast mostly dedicated to movies & TV though it may delve into comics a bit. I've recently picked up a mic and pop filter to do a podcast on my computer. I've got a PC w/ Win7 and from what I've read, Audacity is the way to go for recording purposes. Has anyone ever done this and can they offer any tips on what I would need to check for while doing it or editing?

Also, this might be more for the mods, but is there a way to post audio reviews or files for the wiki/community showcase or not really?

Thanks!

I've used Audacity before for some audio editing and one of my roommates uses it to edit his music, so its easily one of the best programs for any audio editing you're looking to do.

As for the audio file, I think the best way to handle it is make a blog about the newest podcast release and then post about the blog in the showcase submission thread. I know the ole Pass The Whiskey podcast would do that.

@rem25: Audacity is a good way to edit and record podcasts; its really simple and doesn't hog memory. I don't have specific tips except literally just press record and go - it doesn't take much preparation at all, just go for it!

Audacity's great, been using it for music stuff for years. Podcasting is straightforward too. Hit Record and go.

Tips I got are go to Edit -> Preferences -> and make sure your Recording Device is set up properly. People miss this sometimes, and I think the newer version lets you did it right off the top toolbar.

And for quieter stuff, you'll probably wanna do something with Noise Removal to get rid of the subtle hiss. Quick tutorial is right here.

Thanks guys, I appreciate it. I have no idea how it will sound or if it will be good. Maybe a few practice sessions are in order before I decide to throw something up.
