Should there be a battles section in the forums?

For movie characters only though because sometimes there will be timeless questions like who would win in a fight between Robocop and Terminator or Who is more badass between Stallone and Arny ad infinitum. Do you people think we should have this feature like comicvine and animevice?

I don't. In comics there has always been that nerd argument of who is better, your superhero or mine. Batman or Superman. Where as in movies that argument only rarely comes up.

I wouldn't mine a thread popping up asking those question but an entire forum would be over kill imo.

I don't think it would be a good idea. It would invite hostility into the community and draw the focus of the site away from movies themselves. I am afraid that a battle forum might dominate the forums like they do at animevice and comicvine and there will be less variety in the forums.

I've thought about this myself, but I don't know if I'd want one, simply because on animevice and comicvine everytime that I go on their battle forums it's really angry and heated arguments going back and forth, and I prefer Screened being more of a place of movie lovers coming together in harmony.

I would not want one. Aside from trying to come up with some sort of theoretical portal in which various incarnations of characters could theoretically exist the answer would and forever be Batman with 30 minutes of prep time beats ALL. Even Bruce Willis without shoes.

I don't think it's a good idea either. There would be MANY arguments involving said movie character battles (Which a lot are bound to be illegal) that would end up badly and i don't think anyone would want that on Screened.

@Nerx: Like others have said here, I feel like a separate "Battles" section could overwhelm the site and is an invitation for flamewars. But if you wanted to write some battles Blogs yourself, as long as you made an equal case for both/all contenders and kept it jovial, I could see it being fun!

Uh... no. This isn't Anime Vice. We don't need to hear about your creepy pseudo-fanfic.

@Napalm: Nobody said fanfic, emphasis on battles

No. I've seen what battle forums do to sites and it is not pretty. I don't want our pretty little site to lose its' luster.

Now, now some of the best homo-erotic literature I've ever read has been creepy Harry Potter pseudo-fanfic. I was really quite moving. Even if it's just in my dreams, I'm so happy those two wound up together. *snif* I promised myself I wouldn't cry.

And, no we don't need battles here. If you really want to play an online game involving movies, try The Hollywood Stock Exchange. I used to play it back in the early '00's.

@PenguinDust: Was it a Harry/Malfoy fanfic?
