Horror movies are the best, you guys! Logically, October is also the best. Even though I'm watching horror films all year long, when October rolls around, I tend to go overboard with things.

You'll notice there are very few horror "classics" on this list--Exorcist, Night of the Living Dead, Alien, etc. I've seen all these movies way too many times. The point of this month-long exercise is to purposely expose myself to as many movies as possible that I haven't seen. The rare exceptions here are movies like The Blair Witch Project, which I haven't watched in years because it effin' terrifies me.

Many will be hard to find! Many of them you may have to get a hold of from strange, exotic places! I have, however, done my homework and picked all of these from solid sources. They should be pretty terrific films. It does bum me out that I can't recommend some of my favorite scary ass movies from the last few years in the list, so I'll do it here: Martyrs, [rec], The Entity, Them, House of the Devil.

Have fun! Turn the lights off! Get yourself a drink! I know I'll need one.

October 1: The Beyond

October 2: Street Trash

October 3: Triangle

October 4: Tucker and Dale vs. Evil (note: trailer is spoilery of kill scenes)

October 5: Night of the Creeps

October 6: Castle Freak

October 7: Human Centipede 2: Full Sequence

October 8: City of the Living Dead

October 9: The Hitcher

October 10: Frontiers

October 11: Shivers

October 12: They Came Back

October 13: Without Warning

October 14: The Thing (remake)

October 15: The Woman

October 16: Dead Heat

October 17: Yellow Brick Road

October 18: The Changeling

October 19: Burnt Offerings

October 20: The Blair Witch Project

October 21: Paranormal Activity 3

October 22: Psycho II

October 23: The Nameless

October 24: Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer

October 25: Altered States

October 26: In the Mouth of Madness

October 27: Society

October 28: The Stuff

October 29: Apartment 1303

October 30: Evil Bong 3D

@patrickklepek: Cool concept, and a lot of names I don't recognize. I'll add what I can to my Netflix Instant queue and tag along, and I'll augment that with people's suggestions in this thread.

Man, I've only heard half that list and seen even fewer. You've given me some great ideas, Patrick!

no Paranormal Entity makes me sad, the scariest and most disturbing movie of the discovered footage genre

no Evil Dead 1 or 2, no ReAnimator, no American Werewolf in London, no original Halloween...classics trump obscure films in my book

The remake of "The Thing" which was itself a remake of "The Thing from Another World" looks interesting, may have to check that out. The original is still one of my favorite classic movies. "In The Mouth of Madness" is at the top of my list as well, mostly just the general premise of the film itself. "Night of the Creeps" is also one of the classics of my youth. And I can't even remember what "The Stuff" is about its been so long since I have seen it. Maybe I can do a double feature of "The Stuff" and "The Fog" and throw in "The Thing From Another World" and "Them". HHmmmm.

make sure at some point as a warm up to a flick, you watch the Fat Albert Halloween Special, which is on Netflix right now

@patrickklepek: Have you watched japanese horror flick Noroi? If not, you probably should! The thai horror movie called Alone from 2007 also is a great but very peculiar movie that didn't end the way I had guessed.

Also @Sin4profit's suggestion Shutter is awesome.

Some great picks, night of the Creeps has always been a fav of mine since I was kid. Probably because there's a scene where a corpse looks like Eddie of Iron Maiden

Did you even read what Patrick wrote?

I've only seen one film on that list, Triangle. I liked it a fair deal.

All the ones he listed as his mentions are great and everyone should see. Also Triangle is a great movie

damn that is a lot of horror movies. I thought you had just comeup with the title. I'll prolly see paranormal activity 3 and read the wiki of human centipede, that movie made me feel bad just reading about it.

This inspired me to make my own 30 Days list, but being more realistic it will probably be more like a 15 Every-Other-Day list. Now I just need to figure out which movies I'll put on mine. I'll probably go see Tucker & Dale vs. Evil because it's playing at midnight tonight and tomorrow at a theatre close to me.

As I looked through these flicks for like the third time I said to myself, wait....that man in the last video looks like Patrick. And lo and behold it was you! Awesome proposal idea and belated congratulations!

Huh, Joe Piscopo and Treat Williams in a Horror/Comedy? I should probably see that...

I love that movie! I thought Trick 'r Treat was super good.

And I'm super easy to scare, so some of these trailers will be enough for me, thanks.

Agreed

Great list to a point, but you were missing a lot of the great classics, but if your about educating those that need it in Horror, you have done a good job at giving them the 70's-80's genre's :)

I sincerely hope you mean PARANORMAL ACTIVITY because PARANORMAL ENTITY was The Asylum's piss-poor knock-off.
