All this Coke product placement makes me never want to have a coke again.
All this Coke product placement makes me never want to have a coke again.

Few enough surprises in the 2012 Razzie nominations, except perhaps if you don't consider Adam Sandler to be perhaps the most toxic cultural force in American society today. All good people feel that way, though, and you are certainly a good person since you read Screened, you're in our boat. Sandler managed to "win" the game of nominations this year, with 11, more than double the previous record for most nominations in a single year, previously held by Eddie Murphy with five.

None of the rest of the nominations are particularly surprising, and it's nice to see that someone else is not quite on the Ken Jeong bandwagon that's so hip nowadays. Any of the rest of the categories below surprise you? Anyone going to stand up to defend the honor of Nic Cage?

Twilight and Jack & Jill richly deserve this.

Well deserved.

This Nic Cage injustice will not stand!

That list is full of some great jokes, props to the writers or Rorie if he added them. Listing Rosie Huntington-Whitley as simply "The Underwear Model" and having Adam Sandler be nominated that many times made me laugh.

It deserves all of those "awards" and even more. I wasn't aware that being a documentary means you're an actor but if it means giving a razzie to Sarah Palin, I'm all for it. At first I thought the director of Bucky Larson was the Patriots QB Tom Brady. I could understand some of Nic Cage's films getting noms for worst picture but never could I imagine being nominated for Worst Actor because he's pretty much always great even in the worst of films. Also Bill Condon's name should have the letter "M" at the end instead of "N.

I feel like there were worse movies than Transformers last year that probably could have fit "Worst movie" better.

@Hadoken101: I don't know, Transformers was pretty darn dire.

@WinterSnowblind: Agreed, but stuff like The Smurfs, Shark Night 3D, and The Zookeeper came out last year and that's some pretty stiff competition in the utter trash category.

The worst actress category is pretty spot on.

Adam Sandler has the distinction of earning all these nominations and laughing his ass off all the way to the bank.

Excelsior!

Twilight and Transformers are bad movies but they are far from being the worst of the year.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't an episode of South Park predict Jack and Jill like five years ago?

I can think of a variety of films worse than Transformers (not that I think highly of Transformers). The Change Up really dodged a bullet.

Everything else that follows is just repeating these guys.

I feel that there are worst movies than Transformers to give razzies to.

I feel bad for Transformers 3, Twilight and most of these other films. When you have shit as vile as Jack & Jill, Bucky Larson and Big Momma's 3, this might as well have been renamed "Adam Sandler VS Nick Swardson VS Martin Lawrence" this year. I never thought I'd feel bad for Twilight, but at least it was competently made. Unlike these three - though I'm sure it deserved the nominations in the acting categories. But again, even Kristen Stewart and company probably don't deserve to be lumped together with Nick Swardson.

Seriously, Transformers was pretty awesome. I'm getting real sick of people bashing it. The second one was genuinely terrible, but the first and third are great, fun movies with killer VFX and animation.

I think that was from the episode "You're Getting Old", which aired last summer.

I love how there's two actors nominated for Worst Actress and 1 actor nominated for Worst Supporting Actress.

Doesn't matter. His movies make money. I doubt he'd care what a bunch of jack-ass think.
