Alien is a piece of art while aliens is a spectacular action film. So it really depends on what you want out a film. Apples and oranges.

Personally I go alien. I love the art and direction from Scott while Cameron decided to make a film the frat boy jock wouldn't get bored during. Also james Cameron is an asshole

You can't make me choose.

I feel like the actual answer should always be Ridley's Alien, but there's something about the personable and approachable nature of Cameron's Aliens that will always appeal to me. It's a film that's endlessly entertaining and constantly riveting; however, Alien is a film that is meticulously paced and delivers an experience that suffocates with its tangible tension and palpable atmosphere of dread and claustrophobia.

Aliens is one of those movies that feels effortlessly flawless.

I've never really felt like going back and rewatching Alien. It felt pretty dated when I first saw it. And uh... wasn't a fan of seeing Sigourney Weaver in her panties.

It's impossible to compare horror movie to an action movie. Both are excellent in their own right. I prefer Alien.

I've always been blown away by people who prefer Aliens. I remember seeing Alien late one night when I was younger, it's just so tense, and I don't think I've ever been so shocked by anything as a head on a table talking with milk pouring out of it.

That said, I was verrrry young, and I haven't ever seen it since, so this could all be nostalgia.

Alien is pretty great.

But for me, Aliens is pretty much perfect.

Oh man, this poll is currently split right down the middle.

Aliens was the first one I saw, so that colors my opinion a bit, but honestly aliens was so iconic as a scienpce fiction action movie, it just made the bigger impression on me. It is very hard to imagine space marines without thinking of that crew.

Maybe it's just my taste but I will watch Aliens at least once a year. I've seen Alien a couple of times but I never really get the urge to sit down and watch it again.

I couldn't choose one over the other. They're both phenomenal flicks.

I prefer Alien because of the atmosphere created for the film. While I do like Aliens, I missed that terrible sense of isolation as each crew member gets picked off by the xenomorph until only Ripley remains.

One alien versus multiple aliens...Aliens is the obvious choice.

Impossible.

Two very different films both of which knock it out of the park with what they were trying to do. Still I choose Aliens mainly because I saw it in the theater when I was a kid and remember it being the most white knuckle Sci-Fi action movie I have ever seen. To make it even better I remember when Ripley faces teh Queen with the loader suit. I have never since went to a movie where the crowd was as into it as Aliens because during that moment it seemed the whole audience yelled "Hell Yea!!" More then likely it was just one dude but it did speak for everyone watching. Aliens wins it hands down honestly.
