Creepy movies that keep you paranoid even after it's over.

I'm looking for more creepy movies to watch.  So far I think the creepiest has been Rosemary's Baby I guess.  Hearing devil worship and chanting coming from the other room is just freaky.  The Blair Witch Project was a lot of yelling, so there was maybe like 3 minutes of creepiness the entire movie.  Paranormal Activity was interesting, and I liked that they were less subtle with the scares than Blair Witch, but some of the "story" they tried to shoehorn in wasn't subtle and it pulled me out of it, for example:

Oh, and Silence of the Lambs was super creepy, some of those scenes had my heart rate going like crazy, but it's more of a thriller perhaps.
Anyone got any recommendations?  I want to watch a movie that will creep me out so bad I'll have nightmares.

Well idk about anyone else, but after I saw Paranormal Activity I was very paranoid lol. I kept looking at the door hoping to God it wasn't gonna move

If you don't hate Roman Polanski for being a rapist, "Repulsion" and "The Tenant" have a simular creepy factor along the lines of "Rosemary's Baby" as do "The Omen" (original 1976 version), "Carrie" and even "The Shining" to an extent. As far as having nightmares, try anything by Alejandro Jodorowsky, there's something about his messed up brand of cinema that will breing your mind to another state. Have fun!

The Orphanage and The Last Exorcism were the last 2 movies to actually accomplish that to me.

Poltergeist, Christ almighty when I watched that as a young tot, I could not sleep during any thunder storm. I had a window next to my bed with many many trees outside. Not to mention I had to hide any stuffed animals I had for fear of them dragging me under the bed. Ugh that movie still disturbs me.

The first time I watched 28 Days Later... I was pretty creeped out for a while. Maybe it was because I was pretty young at the time, but I think that the movie does a great job of building an atmosphere full of dread and foreboding.

I get really creeped out easily, just to give an idea of this, I jumped at a part in Slither. I'm a big pussy is what I'm trying to say.

Definitely Paranormal Activity. That film made something as simple as a door moving scary. Also Signs. That birthday scene has left deep deep scars in my mind.

I'm surprised by the number of people who are mentioning Paranormal Activity. I liked the concept of the film, but often found it hard to take seriously.

I'll agree with Signs though, when that movie was scary, it was SCARY. Too bad it didn't have more moments like that.

I know it sounds stupid now, but a while ago this movie called the fourth kind. It's got Milla Jovovich and it's a found footage movie, and I think the mood I was in had something to do with it, but still that movie just creeped the shit out of me and I couldn't think of anything else for an hour.

I'll jump on the Paranormal Activity train as well, although that movie seems like it always ends up being extremely divisive. I watched The Poughkeepsie Tapes a few nights ago, that movie is kind of disturbing, but ultimately it just rides on the coattails of its violence and dementia to get a viewer reaction. Kind of like Saw.

Friday the 13th. For the longest time I refused to sleep on beds that had a large space between the mattress and the floor, because of what happened to Kevin Bacon's character.

Nice.  I'm building up a list now.  So far I just watched The Tenant, and that was seriously messed up.  It had a satisfying ending though, really crazy and creepy.

Pi really creeped me the funk out. Something about the black and white with the subject matter, the whole package just really got to me.

Er, well I guess The Blair Witch is a good example of paranoid'y reaction after watching, but my present favorite is 28 Days Later, man that movie engrossed me so much that I was scared Zombies were gonna pop up everywhere, haha.

I know that the movie isn't very good but Pulse really freaked me out. Probably because it was one of my first horror movies and how I had just gotten my first IPod. (For those uninformed, Pulse was about a demon who took over technology) Paranormal Activity also scared the crap out of me. I think it scared me the way it did because I had really thought that it was all real. Yes, I am very gullible.
