Hey everyone I have a few issues in regards to creating my own video review.

1.What's a good method for ripping dvd scenes onto your hard drive without losing quality when you edit?

2.When I've ripped a scene with dvdshrink (the only method of which I have any familiarity) and converted the file into a different format I sometimes have subtitles burned in that I can't get rid of or a completely different language altogether. What am I doing wrong?

3.What are some good freeware editing programs if any? Or should I just fork over the money for something fancy like Avid?

Thanks for your time to whomever reads this and helps me!

I'm a let's player, so I'm not sure how much of this will be applicable. Sadly I've found it's really hard to capture video or rip video without spending some money. I've done pretty well with capturing footage using fraps, which is pretty cheap. Audacity is a great audio editing program that's free, but for video editing it's probably worth it to spend some money and get something cheap like Sony Vegas or something.
