So there is a thread on TheVerge asking "How do you watch TV?" as part of their War on TV features this week. Reading through the responses is actually fascinating since they range from Cable+Netflix+Hulu to crazy VPN Usenet solutions with hacked set top boxes with plenty of in the middle stuff.
Since I live with my family we still have Cable (and Internet) through AT&T. In terms of Live content it's just MMA or the odd Football game. Everything else I DVR and start 15 minutes into the recording to skip commercials. If what I want isn't recorded well I'll just acquire somewhere else. We get most of the movie channels, which is all my Grandma watches. The OnDemand library is actually pretty good but if something I need isn't on there there is always Netflix and once again the Internet.
For screens we have a shit CRT in the main room, my parents refuse to buy a new TV until it dies (I've been trying to kill it for YEARS). I only use it though to watch SOA with my Mom. Most everythign else is through my asus monitor or iPodTouch. Really want to buy a Nexus7.
I'm really interested if anyone here actually uses Hulu and Hulu+ to watch stuff. The majority conclusion for the War on TV features has been that no ones ecostystem has everything which makes it a pain in the butt to use. I make fun of Hulu a lot but it actually seems like a slightly better service now.
