If you thought Fred the movie was bad

Kids are stupid and they like stupid shit, that's all there is to understand.

Even as a 5 year old, the chipmunk voices got old for me.

Right?? I never "got" the appeal of the Chipmunks even as a very little kid.

I think you're overthinking what they're doing with those videos. That kid was the #1 attraction on Youtube for 2009, the likes of Freddy Got Fingered and Tim and Eric can only DREAM of those numbers, any single video of his his gets more views than those two combined and multiplied by one hundred. I'm not making a judgement call either way, I'm saying it's insane and a little sad. (So I guess I AM making some kind of judgement).

I only watched Fred: The Movie entirely for Pixie Lott, and even she couldn't make me watch until the end, I just had to turn it over half way through,

@Undeadpool: All my speculation based on Fred come from commercial breaks during Degrassi, which my girlfriend is obsessed with.   What I gather is that it is some kid who made a few goofy videos on Youtube that for some reason became hugely popular and Nickelodeon is trying to make money off the huge subscriber numbers.  I just think what works in a short youtube video feels forced in a longer format.    It's like those bad SNL movies that take a recurring sketch which is just one joke and try to turn it into a feature length movie.
Hate was a strong word to use as I should of said I just don't get it.

Also Freddy Got Fingered was Tom Green's train wreck of a movie that killed his career and was genuinely despised and considered to be one of the worst movies ever made.  I don't know what you were thinking of.   I also said it was brilliant not funny.  I look at Freddy Got Fingered as a beautiful cinematic disaster that will be considered a masterpiece of post-modern art house cinema in about 50 years from now.

@not_a_bumblebee: From what I remember Viacom gave him a ton of money without a clue about what they were going to really do. So they are back to doing Fred with the hope the fact that the fan base didn't turn away after 3 years and a much older looking actor now on screen.

Also, guys, this is for kids. Let's not act too surprised when we don't find this funny.

Being "for kids" does not have to mean "a guy talking in a weird voice and acting dumb in the absence of jokes," you know.

I agree, but for some reason, kids love this shit. I cannot fathom me ever liking this (in all honesty, I probably would have abhorred it) as a child, but there are many five year olds that legitimately love this.

Embarrassed as I am to say, but three years ago, I actually watched a couple of Fred's YouTube videos, and found them mildly amusing.

That being said, how anyone can listen to a 20 year old pretending to be 5 for anything longer than 2 minutes perplexes me.

This kid is, what, twenty-three now, right? At what point do you drop your act for the sake of having an actual career/sex with a woman?

I was saying that both T&E and Freddie Got Fingered are vastly beyond what the "mainstream" wants for whatever reason. Maybe I misunderstood your original point, but you seemed to be comparing Fred to those two things and I was just saying they're BASICALLY nothing alike in terms of both content AND, sadly, popularity. Frankly I'm not a fan of any of these three things, so they're all a titch out of my wheelhouse.

In a sense, Fred (Lucas Cruikshank) is the real iCarly, so there is a symmetry to him being on Nickelodeon.

I didn't think it was bad, cuz I never bothered watching it. Crazy.

That was significantly less annoying than I remember Fred being. So there's that.

what's wrong with his voice?

I had a girl who's way into it explain this shit to me once- I guess his shtick is that he's supposed to be 'playing' an eight year-old (or some shit, even though he's like in his 20's), so they pitch up his voice to convey that. The whole thing's garbage.

I honestly don't know who would watch something like that?

Uninformed people?

Children. Seriously I watched one of his videos when I was like, 10 and thought it was the funniest thing ever. Went back a few weeks ago, not even a smile.

I don't think he was comparing them quality wise or popularity wise. He was comparing them because they both seem to do weird things just for the sake of doing weird things. Not that the things they do are even remotely similar, they're both just unconventional and weird.
