It has been coming for a while now, but I think it is fair to say that screened is truly dead.
So Joey and Rorie are still here. How do you replace Alex though, I mean who with? Maybe we'll get a more consistent podcast though.

After the initial shock, I'm pretty excited about the potential. Aside from all of "our" work, Screened has been a one man show (well, two if you count Tom, but...you know) for too long. Hopefully an influx of $$$ means the potential to hire on some new, more constant contributors, pump out more special features, and do things that we can't even imagine now.
I do gotta say though that as a TV fan the company that Screened was sold to, Berman Braun, has some weird immediate connotations. ;)
My mind hurts and Im a little shocked. Whiskey Media was one of those awesome families that are being broke up and im worried about the future but I think in the back of all of our heads we knew this couldn't last forever. But I hope Screened comes out of this heads up because this is my favorite site and Whiskey Media is the first true community I joined and participated in.
@gangly:
Ah man, you undersell Joey's excellent contribution! (I'm sure it wasn't intentional, & I guess you meant as a writer)
Anyway, on one hand it's a little sad to see that Alex is going in a seperate direction from Matt, they made for a good team & I think Screened is my favourite of the Whiskey sites because of the smaller, relatively intimate community compared to Giantbomb & because of their writing/podcast chemistry. But (& maybe I'm wildly naive) I like to think these guys have earnt my trust in so far as giving things a chance to develop, see in what direction every goes. From what I can tell it doesn't seem like Screened will be dying & so speculating that it seems obvious is a bit weird to me, going by both the Giant Bomb stream & the article in the OP.
It'll be exciting to see what happens, & I'm confident we'll still have Screeneddotcom at the end of it. Hopefully new owners will allow for a slightly larger writing staff. So long as I can keep reading what Rorie has to say about the latest releases.

Not saying goodbye until the announcement, holding on to my butt!
This.
Hopefully this means good things for Rorie, Joey, etc. This is the only movie/TV website that I actually enjoy coming to and reading and watching content on. Also, not to sound mean or anything because I love Alex and the work he's done for the site, but everything he's done here for a while besides the Cage stuff has felt really half-hearted. Kinda felt like he's had one foot out the door for a while now.

Me too buddy. This and Comic Vine (and the occasional trying to shout over the GiantBomb crowd) are the only forums that I've EVER posted on, let alone adding to Wiki's and creating some fun extra content for all the other weirdos here. I hope it says, 'cause I don't think this experience can be duplicated. Basically...
@gangly: Whiskey Media is great and I honestly think that they have earned our trust. Comic Vine got me into comics and these guys put up some of the best content I see on a daily basis and the Whiskey Media family work so well together. Happy hour and Big Live show were those things I so looked forward to but like I said they earned our trust and we will see what happens.
