The long hyped and awaited documentary that follows three indie game developments (Fez, Braid, and Super Meat Boy) has finally left the theaters and is out now on the internets. I just watched the film myself and it paints a wonderful and sometimes dark picture of indie game development. It's great hearing, and even seeing, insight from some behemoths of games who in some cases develop these games from home.

Already out wiki has a great page for the game and you can get more information about where to buy or rent the game on their website.

Has anyone else seen it? Any thoughts?

I'm looking forward to watching it, especially since I bought Fez, Braid and Super Meat Boy already, which'll provide an interesting perspective.

@RockinKemosabe: They balance the timelines mostly well so you get a sense of what it's like throughout most of the development, though a lot of the focus goes towards Fez (because it was actively being developed during shooting and only came out recently) and a lot of time towards Super Meat Boy since it came out a bit ago.

@FinalDasa: Yeah, I got a good sense of how the film is structured by reading Alex's article he wrote this week.

I'm gonna pick it up after my exams end next wednesday. Probably fork out the whole £10 for a HD version on iTunes, because I'm an idiot.

By the way you can buy it on Steam, it's great.

The film is getting some flak for the presentation of Phil Fish's ex-partner as a bad guy, but altogether I enjoyed it for what it was. I don't know if I'd recommend it to anyone who doesn't have an interest in games, but for those that do it's a relevant documentary.

@TheHumanDove: It does say at the end he didn't want to participate in the film and the only person talking about him was Fish. While that one scene, with Fish talking about him, I did think about the other man's side of the story. I didn't think him as a malicious person but more that Fish was overworked and stressed especially with showing Fez for the first time at PAX.

@FinalDasa: They actually had a revision to the film to say that he wasn't asked to be in the film which makes it a whole lot different. I wouldn't take anything Fish says as factually especially because the directors chose to omit half of the story

Right, I just watched it, and I really wasn't a fan. In fact, I actively disliked it. Then I got worried that *I* was the bad guy for having that opinion.

That was scary.

Great movie, I remember that day that Meat Boy launched! Wonder what happened on Microsoft's side.
