Today's one of those days where I just want to take a mulligan on Screened. Nothing really happened newswise, we didn't have any features in the pipeline, and I was a bit harried from having to come in for the podcast. So, we mostly just put up a bunch of Youtube embeds and called 'em stories. That's fun, but I'd like to actually give you guys something meaty to read every day.

Theoretically we should have at least three features going up every day, but we've had a few freelancers cut back on their contributions due to life stuff, so I really need to go through all the submissions I got and pick a person or two to refresh the ranks. It's tough to go through a couple hundred submissions when you're scrambling to find stuff to put on the site every hour, though (and I really like getting something up every hour).

I need a vacation. Sorry also if I haven't responded to PMs or wall posts lately; just been a bit harried this month for some reason. How are you?

You do need a vacation. Right after you ship me that DVD and stickers :P

Seriously though, I know it would be great for Screened to be putting up plenty of features, articles, and videos, but we understand the down days. I'm pretty sure we know how hard you, Alex, Joey, and the freelancers all work.

It would be nice to have a bunch of features to read and video features to watch. But I think we all can understand when things can get stale. Like FinalDasa said we know hard you guys work and we're grateful for what you guys do everyday.

You could probably use a vacation from what has sounded like a continual streak of hard work since Alex moved/started dividing his time with Giant Bomb. Maybe let the inmates run the asylum for a day or so, who knows. We might not call out as many industry people as baby fuckers as the current staff already does, but no promises.

I'm curious that the freelancer input has dried up due to "life stuff", since I was under the impression that writing for this site was kind of how they (partially) earned their living. I'm probably talking out my ass though, since I can't imagine it would keep them away if it wasn't important. Hope the new guys are just as informative and insightful as the older crew, if perhaps a little less verbose (then again, it's by the word, right?).

As for having less content in general, don't worry about it. Comes with the territory when it's January. I know GB is suffering too.

It's totally fine with me. Not to sound like a groupie, but since the Live Show in September, Whiskey Media has bombarded me with great features that sometimes last hours. I feel compelled to watch/listen to everything coming out of Screened and Giant Bomb -- even if it's just you or Jeff talking in front of a webcam for 1-2 hours -- so I'm behind in other things like movies.

It's cool, because I literally spent 2.5 hours today watching Ryan and Patrick finish a SNES game from 15+ years ago. That sounds sadder typed out.

Couldn't you arrange for say Ryan and Patrick (or others who are more cinematically inclined around the office) to guest edit for a week or two so you can take some time off? Seriously I've done the "one guy who can handle that work" thing before and pulled dumb hours for months at at a time, but everybody needs a break (even if you job is awesome... and mine isn't).

How very dare you! Just kidding. Go take a break man! I think we can live without you for a little while, only if you promise to come back.

The very nature of the Whiskey sites mean that most of us who return regularly care more about the staff than the sites themselves, plus most of us use more than one site regularly too so you'll find almost all of us are very open to staff well being over constant content. I can only urge you not to worry and to take it easy but I realise that's hard with the pressure you're under.

Most importantly I guess is that you don't need to apologise for what doesn't happen in the industry to make news, what other people aren't doing/can't do or how your phenomenal work rate somehow isn't enough. You know we love you guys no matter what, right?

It's okay. You can take a break every once-in-a-while.

Just don't fall asleep on the job. ;p

No one is upset or disappointed, Rorie. You work remarkably hard and I love Screened. LOVE IT. Please, take a vacation soon so you don't burn out.

Also eagerly awaiting freelancer additions. To see if I got in, of course. And to see some fresh blood.
