John Woo wants to remake it, but Le Samourai would be a disaster if it was remade

True Grit, the re-made remake.

The smaller list would be what films should be remade. I can't really think of any, but I'm certainly not going to list 99.9% of the movies that have ever been made because none of them should be remade.

I'd say the Star Wars prequels could be remade. Really, a lot can be undone of Lucas's doing in the last 25 years and maybe people will remember why they care about something that's been ostensibly a ragged whore for the last 2 generations. Basically a remake that sets out to undo a certain level of damage done to movie legacies, where normally remakes are part of the stain. But the Lucas situation is a rather unique one.

Really, what could you do to help though? Unless you completely decide to rewrite to beginning and not just re-shoot it with different actors, which might help, but not dramatically.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Back to the Future, Fight Club. Those were the first to come to mind.

You could hire good actors, have a decent, paced script, and make 1 good movie about Anakin becoming Darth instead of 3 shitty movies about trade delegations and podracing and soulless romance and whatever the hell happened when I went comatose during the 2nd one. And then you have that and you can go "that other shit never happened anymore". Part of erasing history is rewriting it.
