I am writing an article about the entire state of network shows to post on Monday, but since it is not yet finished, I thought many of you would be interested to know that there will only be 13 episodes of Last Resort and 666 Park Avenue this season and while the network is not saying it, the shows are "essentially" cancelled. This one surprises me, as I felt like there was still a lot of good will for the show, but just not the ratings. ABC is not closing the door on the shows and say they will be in consideration for pick-up for another season next year. I suspect the only way that happens is if they have a terrible development season.

I'm surprised how much money networks throw at new shows only to cancel them after one lackluster season.

I remember hearing that Seinfeld didn't get any good ratings until its 3rd or 4th season. Maybe it's time they figure a way out to make cheaper shows or just live with lower ratings for a season or two.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

It isn't surprising that 666 Park Ave isn't coming back, it never seemed to have any sort of critical or internet buzz about it. Last Resort on the other hand at least had the Shawn Ryan name and some decent internet buzz. That show though never really seemed cut out to 22 episode seasons anyway. It had a tough time slot too even if that was shared with NBC Zombie comedies. ABC in generall hasn't really had good Thursday night programing for a while, other than Greys Anatomy which should be on it's way out right?

I accidentally deleted the third episode of Last Resort on my DVR, and have been waiting for it to be a rerun on the NBC schedule. I feel like I can't watch the rest of the series because of that mistake because it ruins the continuity. I am enjoying the series however. It's a good conspiracy thriller, and it's really intense.

However, This news of it being cancelled is pretty depressing.

To add insult to injury, The Neighbors was given a full season.

I'm gonna to hold off on my "network tv season wrap-up" to make it coincide with the podcast on this topic! If anyone has any thoughts before that, feel free to send to me! I know you will be on, Mike, so you can save for the 'cast :)

Last Resort was awesome. I didn't like the whole LOST vibe to it, but I did think the concept was very edgy and original. Sorry to see it go.
