I was thinking of various instances of product placement in movies and, for some god-forsaken reason, started thinking of Evolution. It is the only movie that I can name off of the top of my head where a real-world brand proves pivotal in the movie's climax. Of course, in Evolution, it's milked for comedy (a bit), but it still feels really strange. I mean, some movies have REALLY badly placed advertising (I, Robot comes to mind), but at least a pair of nike sneakers doesn't prove instrumental to saving the world. Can you think of any other films where, for lack of a better phrase, "product placement saves the day"?
