Remakes you would actually like to see

Remakes aren't going away anytime soon so I was curious if there were any movies you wouldn't mind seeing redone.

Here are a few I would love to see:
1. League of Extraordinary Gentlemen - Possible my favorite work by Alan Moore that isn't Watchmen.  I don't think Hollywood actually read the graphic novels and based the movie on a brief summary.
2. Alien vs. Predator -  This seemed impossible to screw up.  You have two of the most gruesome and horrific aliens in cinematic history fighting each other and they decide to make it a PG-13 summer blockbuster directed by the guy who fucked up Resident Evil.  It isn't rocket science, you have humans accidentally build a colony on a planet that is a Predator hunting ground for Xenomorphs.  How do you fuck that up?
3.  They Live - Don't get me wrong I love the original with Rowdy Roddy Piper, Keith David, and their epic alley fight scene over a pair of sunglasses.  I just think a big budget remake would be fun. It  was a really interesting story that I would love to see another director's take on.

1. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull -

I am okaywith the aliens, but the thought of Indiana Jones having a son and Shia LaBeouf being that son is just too much. That final scene where the film teases that Shia Labeouf might take the reins from Indiana Jones was more frightening than all the scenes in The Devil Inside.

2. Terminator 4 Salvation - Why did they make this PG-13?

3. Jurassic Park 2 and 3 - Jurassic Park 2 was okay, but it could have been better. Jurassic Park 3 was a mess.

4. My Sister's Keeper - How did they mess this one up. This should have been Oscar gold, but the film has more flashbacks than a Lost episode.

Cars. It should of been way better.

I second this.

What could a remake have done better without being radically different? I liked the feel Pixar gave the world and liked most of the characters introduced.

I thought Cars was pretty fun.  My only real problem with it was that it was essentially the same story as Doc Hollywood.  Before Cars 2 I would say it was Pixar's weakest film but it was still a good movie.

Answer, waste almost the whole movie trying to make you care about some random humans. Talk about not being what's written on the tin! It isn't AvPvH. Or even AvH.

How amazing would it have been to have some main Predators, some individual Xenomorphs, and just tell their battle story?! Well, it would be almost entirely subtitled, so it would never happen, but oh man, if it did...

In that same "HOW DO YOU FUCK THAT UP?" vein, I'd throw in Transformers, and Van Helsing. Those movies should write themselves. And the people that did write those movies should have their hands cut off.

@gangly: I wasn't upset about the human element because it was necessary or else you are left with an extremely odd The Clan of the Cave Bear vibe minus a half naked Daryl Hannah in her prime.  While I think that would be an interesting choice but there is no way that film would be commercially successful.

I would love to see a 3 Ninjas remake. jk jk

Maybe if a competent writer and director (an actors) took the reins of Alone in the Dark. Man, how good that movie could have been.

@Ghost_of_GhostDad: Very true. Although, while the budget would of course have to be at least twice what this was, Apocalypto was a resounding success considering it was a movie with very little dialog featuring no known actors. An AvP film similar to that could be amazing!

A nerd can dream... ;) Also:

The Shadow

Fantastic Voyage

I'd really like to see a Van Helsing reboot. Man, I wanted to like that movie so much. It's such a cool idea, but alas we have the actual product.

Otherwise, I'd like to see them redo Highlander. The original was great (and still one of my favorite movies), but the sequels diluted the experience, so if they redid it, they could have potential for a series to follow.

I would love to see the Resident Evil movies remade by somebody who actually understood they were supposed to be a horror movie.

Godzilla could be remade, I don't know if we could make a truly great Godzilla movie but we could at least make a competent one.

And I second a Van Helsing remake, just think about it, the origin story of the old guy from Dracula who was an expert in vampires, there has to be a good story there to tell.

@obscurefan: Sadly the success of the Resident Evil movies may have convinced the makers of the Resident Evil game to take a more action-oriented approach.

On the bright side, they are remaking the Van Helsing movie and its starring Tom Cruise. Here is a link.

Ah dude... Resi does need a good remake. The current franchise doesn't give it justice (even though the current RE games are kind of.... lame)

Spawn (The CGI looks really dated).

Revenge of The Nerds (I love the original movies but a new sequel or a remake would be pretty cool).

Mortal Kombat (maybe a bit more serious take on the subject like the web series was).

Max Payne (If they would just follow the story line from first game with a new cast..then it would be perfect).

Nothing really comes to mind for me but seeing another League of Extraordinary Gentlemen or Godzilla (done right this time) would be pretty awesome.

Sadly the current RE games are kind of lame because they decided "hey why not make the games more like the movies?" Other way around guys.

Ooh, you know since the 80s what it means to be a Nerd has changed a lot, like with tech and geek culture now being kind of "in" I think you could actually make a remake to Revenger of the Nerds that would be a pretty interesting new look at it.

@obscurefan: If they were to ever bring Alice in as a playable character, I would never purchase a Capcom game ever again.
