Scariest movie characters

After writing my review for Return to Oz (shameless self promotion) I thought it would be interesting to hear what characters people consider the scariest.
 
For me there was one character who gave me recurring nightmares as a child. Not crazy bad "need to get to a mental house" nightmares but I when I had nightmares they were always about Mombi from Return to Oz. The witch with the interchangeable head...
 
 
  
 
I also find the Wheelers from Return to Oz incredible creepy...
 
 
  
 
And finally Pale Man from Pan's Labyrinth freaks the shit out of me.
 
 
 
 
Anyone got any characters they find really scary/creepy?

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE Return to oz!  Especially that witch.  If you haven't listened to They Might Be Giants, do! But especially check out this SONG.  It always makes me think of that scene.
 
For my scariest character, I think I'd go with Norman Bates.

Hal 9000. His character is s simple, but so evil. How he says everything so calm just makes it worse, and better.

When I was a kid I was most afraid of the terminator in Terminator 2 because it was unstoppable, relentless and uncaring.

Ben Kingsley in Sexy Beast. 
 
There is no freaking way i would every mess with this guy O_O

@Mistress_Redhead: Sexy Beast rules! Ben Kingsley is amazing in it. Plus I'm crazy about Ray Winstone and Ian McShane, too.

Speaking of Sexy Beast, the scene in the restaurant when Ian McShane's character denies that Ben Kingsley called, and he has that amused look creeping onto his face, is insanely unnerving.

Characters like the German Surgeon from Hostel. The idea that you could get kidnapped and people would a small fortune to torture you.
