EDIT 3: So, what did we learn this weekend, folks? Turns out that generic PG-13 remakes of beloved, cult, imaginative sci-fi movies are not what the public wants. The Diary Of A Wimpy Kid bubble has finally burst (figures, on the weekend I go big for it and everything). I have very little grasp of how the Indie world works. And New York and LA absolutely, somehow, love the everliving crap out of Celeste & Jesse Forever. Well, now we have our final set of results to hand out and, since it's double points week, anything can happen to to scoreboard as a result. Remember: for Wide Releases it's 2 points for being closest and 4 points for being dead on this week; and for Limited Releases it's 2 points for being closest and 4 points for being within $500 either side of the total.

Interesting factoid, quickly before the final leaderboard: @DustinFun1704 was actually $6.8 million UNDER on Total Recall but $6.8 million OVER on Diary Of A Wimpy Kid; which is how they got so close to being dead on. Good work, duder! And congrats on finally getting some points! On the other end of the spectrum; @alexpiercey was so wildly over on their predictions for the wide releases that it didn't matter in the slightest with their $1 bets for the limited releases. Ain't that interesting?

But none of you want to know about any of that. No, you just want the scoreboard so you can find out who won and leave the site forever, don't you? Why? Was it something I said? Don't go! I can change! Honest! PLEASE DON'T GO!!!

Ahem... let's go to the board.

So, ladies and gentlemen, we have a winner! A clear winner, at that. And it is so that I must begrudgingly hand the title of King Of The Box Office Winners League to @RockinKemosabe! I'm sure that they have a whole melodramatic speech prepared so be sure to give them the space to do so. Regardless, we must also congratulate @VioletEyedDragon for a valiant effort at trying to best our winner and we should also congratulate @DustinFun1704 for earning so many points in one week (and also, incidentally, managing to avoid finishing the game with 0 points at the last possible second). Plus, let's offer some reverse congratulations to @alexpiercey for striking out every week they've played and finishing at the bottom of the scoreboard. Reverse Congratulations... or pity. Whichever you choose.

I'd like to thank everyone who played even one round over the course of this season. Creating, running and maintaining the League has been a pure slice of hell involving endless maths, table constructions and reminders that @RockinKemosabe is way better at this than I am. Was it worth it? Well, considering the overwhelming demand for a second season in the Winter (despite it probably going to kill me), I'd say so. Your continued support and enthusiasm kept me going even when I was busy tearing my hair out at not finding theatre counts for certain movies. Thanks, Screened Pups! You guys truly are the best duders and the nicest community on the Internet!

So, thanks to the demand, we'll reconvene here on Wednesday the 5th of September for the 11 week Winter season! Can @RockinKemosabe keep ahold of their crown? Can anyone knock them off the throne? OK, my predictions, for the last time!

I'm giving Total Recall the benefit of the doubt here because I think that it's going to do OK. Not great and definitely not what the studio wants, but OK. It is, after all, the first big blockbuster after The Dark Knight Rises so I think it has that slight, "Well, there's nothing else on so let's just go and see that" benefit (see also: The Amazing Spider-Man). It will not break any records, it will not set the world on fire, hell, it probably won't even make it to number 1, but it may do OK. Of course, I have a feeling I've overshot it, but no other number seems right for it to me.

Diary Of A Wimpy Kid is going to do really rather well. Probably higher than my prediction. These movies are shockingly successful and I expect this one to continue the franchise's opening weekend rise. Plus, there's an almost complete lack of competition for it this weekend (parents should not be taking their children to see the Christopher Nolan Batman movies, end of story) making it easy for it to exceed my prediction and maybe even Total Recall!

For 360, I remembered the complete bomb of 30 Beats from two weeks back and considered how that would work for a film on two screens. Thusly, I came up with my prediction for an art movie that critics don't like! Yay, maths/science/arse-pulling!

Finally, Celeste & Jesse Forever. This will do well and I have a good feeling that it'll meet that prediction up there. There's good buzz, everyone involved is likable and, as per usual, festival showings. And festival showings seem to be the thing that sends ticket sales through the roof, hence my high prediction.

I'm going to be sad to see this go...
