TIME'S UP! The deadline has passed. If you enter any predictions now, they will NOT be counted! If you missed the deadline but still want to play, then come back next week and enter predictions for then.

And, may I just say how wonderful it is to see a tonne of new faces! Plus, all but 2 of you who played last week returned for another go! Yes! I have a genuine success on my hands!

Anyways, return to this thread on Monday for the results and the leaderboard! Until then; chat amongst yourselves, reassure and that we don't make fun of stupid predictions here (especially in my case) or just wait with baited breath for the scores. Whichever.

I don't feel that great about this week. I think I went too high on Snow White and too low on the others.

Damnit! Why does Snow White have to be over-performing?

Box Office Mojo predictions give Snow White a $55 million weekend, and it seems that Pirranha 3DD will have trouble even breaking 100K.

@Red: But...but...BOOBS?!

I guess Americans would rather see fairy tales than boobs, it's like I don't know what to think anymore.

@FinalDasa: Well, Snow White does have Charlize Theron. Could be part of the reason for its success.

@Red But Piranha has David Haselhoff! Why on earth would people not see a movie with David Haselhoff?

Well... I certainly tanked this weekend.

So, Battlefield America. There’s no official studio estimates released for the film, but I have done some digging. According to E! Online, the film made $632 per screen over the weekend and, according to Shadow And Act on Indiewire, the film opened on 188 screens. So, I did some maths and got the number you see below. In future, I’m going to avoid all films that don’t have a specified amount of screens as it makes this whole thing super vague, otherwise.

Regardless, we do have a winner for that film, so we’ll go ahead and include the score anyway. Right, this week’s results!

The results are in for Week 2! Don't forget: there are points available for the 4 films AND the total gross. You get 1 point for being closest to each's official gross and 2 points if you were dead on with your prediction. In the event of a tie for any film or total, all winners earn a point to minimise arguments. So, without further delay, here are the totals, along with those who are closest!

Results: Week 2 (Weekend Of June 1st)

Damn, I was way off on everything except For Greater Glory, which beat me by only a hundred thousand.

I was hoping that I would at least Piranha 3DD, but it looks like I underestimated Americans again. Why are Americans choosing better films this year?! Where was this when Hugo came out?!

So, so close to getting Snow White spot on. Should of paid more attention to how many theaters Piranha was showing on though, got that one terribly wrong. Not a bad first try though.

Oooh, dang I was close with For Greater Glory, but I'll just have to try harder next time. Good work everyone.

Funny, I was so mad this morning because I had changed Snow White from $54 million right before I submitted, but then I would have lost that and also the Overall, so I can't be that upset. (btw, I retract my earlier fears...no matter what happens, this is fun!)

Post by skidd (2,155 posts) See mini bio

2 points! I'll take that considering how far off I was for all the other guesses. @TopSteer: Very close!

Post by Monkeyman04 (350 posts) See mini bio

How did I even get one point this week?

Post by VioletEyedDragon (1,813 posts) See mini bio

Box Office Mojo had BATTLEFIELD: AMERICA at 188 theaters too. I recommend using that site's theater count.

Post by Red (508 posts) See mini bio

I think I was second place for Snow White and Pirranha 3D. So close.
