EDIT 2: And the results are in! To be frank, it was rather close this weekend, and there were so many predictions that were so close to being dead on. I feel like bending the rules and awarding those that were this close the two points... But I can't. Because the rules are the rules. Anyways, we have one major success, one relatively decent opening (all things considered), one pretty large bomb and a bunch of people failing to realise that Woody Allen makes money, gorram it! Here come this week's results! Remember, it's one point for the closest or two points if you're dead on.

As per usual, my predictions.

FilmPrediction
Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter$25.5 million
Brave$50.4 million
Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World$12 million
To Rome With Love$200,000
Total$88.1 million

As much as I would love for it to succeed, I really don't think that Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter will do well, at all. It's a ridiculous premise and I imagine that the super serious marketing is going to turn a hell of a lot of people away. In addition, it stars literally no-one that anyone will remember (barring Howard Stark) leading me to note above when I said, "None of the stars in this movie have ever successfully opened a film, and those who have, haven't done so in the last half a decade." I stand by that statement and I don't think "From producer Tim Burton and the Director of Wanted" will have the same pull as they once did. As much as it pains me to say, I'm calling it: This'll be a bomb. Prove me wrong, America!

Brave is interesting. I mean, it's Pixar, so it will win the weekend and it will make money. But I don't think that it'll make that much money. Madagascar only came out 2 weeks ago and I think that's really going to eat into those ticket sales, making the opening less than anticipated and, consequently, dooming the "Female lead" concept to action movies starring Angelina Jolie, once again. I pray more for the quality, than anything else. It's not out here in the UK until August, and the trailers have me terrified that Pixar haven't learnt anything from Cars 2. As for the prediction: I went a bit conservative. Shoot me.

Seeking A Friend... is a random number I pulled out of my arse. It's got star power which I think will help it do well, but beyond that, it's anyone's guess. I'm kind of surprised that they haven't played up the fact that it's from the writer of Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist at all, but they're professional marketers, so what does my opinion matter?

And To Rome With Love has rather terrible reviews which will hurt its box office. But, it's Woody Allen and the novelty of seeing him in front of the camera again for the first time in over half a decade should draw out enough people to help this make my prediction. If this becomes the next Midnight In Paris (which, let's face it, has already happened thanks to Moonrise Kingdom), I will be utterly amazed.

And now watch as, just like every single other week, my carefully thought out and rationalised predictions turn out to be 100% wrong!

Also, how do you folks like the slightly less formal writing style? I think I've finally gotten the hang of writing these and making them interesting to read!

@TopSteer: I will more than happily pray against my results if it finally gets you some points! You're a trier and, dammit all, triers deserve at least a point!

Also, re-reading my predictions and then reading all of yours (as in, everyone who's made predictions so far), I've realised that I may not completely understand the concept of a bomb. $25 million is not really a bomb, and all of yours are looking exceedingly accurate. Dammit, all!

I need to start rigging this thing! Once I've finished building my time machine, I'll use it to win the League! And then you'll all kneel before my awesome terror! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

I actually think I may be lowballing it for Brave. Despicable Me made $60 million in its opening weekend last year, and while it did have more star power, I don't think that matters as much as the Pixar bump.
