The best part about AMC Dine-In Theatres: RESERVED SEATING

Avengers midnight tickets just popped up at my local AMC Dine-In ( http://dinein.amctheatres.com/Locations/DowntownDisney24 ), which is fine and all for the glorious meals you can have while watching the flick, but is extra extra fine because you can reserve seats. Hopping onto this early, you can see I have my pick of the litter in terms of seats for me and my bros.

The only "problem" is that the Dine-In Avengers Midnight shows are 3D only. I would've preferred 2D but I guess it's not that big of a deal, especially considering that I know I'm guaranteed good seats even if I arrive 10 minutes prior to the show starting. No concession line either - waiters will bring you whatever foodstuffs you desire.

Assigned seating has been the status quo in LA for a while, and sometimes it can be nice. We don't have any fork & screens here, however.

Holy shirt I had no idea this was a thing! That's pretty awesome. And I am a fan of reserved seating for theaters well.

Still super weary of eating in a theater. I get that it's for entertainment-only type blockbusters, so the distractions don't matter that much, but I really just don't think I could get in to a movie with waiters walking around all the time.

If you're gonna do that kind of thing, though, reserved seating is a cool idea.

Reserved sits is not a normal thing in America?

Reserved seating is the norm here in Denmark. Never heard of any dine-in theatres or something like that though. Dont think that'd be my thing, especially since I almost got a bowl of nachos, cheese and salsa in my lap once.

Things you would think you need to worry about, like the noise and hubbub of waiters and waitresses walking around, are things you barely even notice during the movie. The waiters and waitresses seem to know good moments to come take orders / serve. When I went, they basically took my full order before the movie began so talking during the picture was minimal. To be fair, it was a midday showing of Puss in Boots so there weren't a lot of people either - the hubbub might be worse during a predictably packed show like a midnight release of The Avengers.

There's little buttons on the tables which you can use to call a waiter or waitress at any time (like a stewardess button on a plane), but I've only ever used it to ask for refills on my drink. The only big problem I have with the Dine-In Theatre is that the 'table' lights are pretty much completely off during the movie. This is a good thing in terms of watching the picture, but it comes at the cost of you basically not being able to see your food at all. It's basically blind eating and, while the food is very good, I still like to see what I'm putting in my mouth.

@LumpOfCole: Wow, that looks really cool! Certainly if one goes into the experience with the mindset that there will be some distractions, that'd make for a pretty enjoyable way to kick back for a few hours.

I'll take a bacon cheeseburger, a lager and a screening of Lockout please!

Wow is this what heaven will be like? I never knew there was such a thing. It'd be cool to just have some lunch/dinner and watch a movie with friends, obviously I wouldn't wanna see every film like that. Maybe not a horror, I'd end up knocking my food over in a panic or vomming it back up! haha. For a fun movie like Avengers it'd be great.

Reserved seating is normal in the UK though, although for some screens (like IMAX) it's just the premier seats that are reserved. It's a battle for the rest of the seats if you don't pick premier, which why wouldn't you? It's only a few pounds more expensive and if your gonna pay the massive price for IMAX then why not like £2 more to get a great seat?

There is literally a Fork & Screen up the road from where I work.

There's also a "Cinema Suites" version (as opposed to the "Fork and Screen" version I'm going to) that I don't get here in Orlando and has big lounger recliners. However, it looks to be a slightly more expensive experience than what I get. I'm really jealous of it. The food is really really high quality at "Fork and Screen" at least.

WANT.

I know we have one theatre near downtown that serves alcohol (at a bar outside of the actual theatre you're sitting in) but that's about it. You'd think eating and sitting still would catch on quickly in the US.
