So it seems like every year at least somebody feels the need to point out "Oh well this is the summer of sequels" "There are just sooooo many sequels coming out this year" "When will these sequels ever stop." Well you know something, we Screened Pups can see the good and bad in sequels and prequels, and that's why this week on the podcast we're going to be talking about just that. So give us below some of your favorite sequels and prequels to talk about, and also if you have any questions for us feel free to ask them, they can be about the topic at hand or just any questions you want to get off your chest.

As of right now I don't know who my guest will be (other than my usual cohost, Michelle) but when I find out I'll update here so check back to see if you have any specific questions for whoever it may turn out to be.

Favorite Sequels: Star Trek Wrath of Khan, The Silence of the Lambs (debatable if you count Manhunter as its predecessor), Empire Strikes Back (goes without saying), Bourne Supremacy + Ultimatum, X2: X-Men United, Superman II (Richard Donner Cut), The Dark Knight, Toy Story 2 + 3, Aliens, Terminator 2: Judgement Day, Godfather Part II, The Lord of the Rings: Two Towers + Return of the King (this one I feel barely feels like a sequel, because it's just one big continuous story).

I like prequels way less simply because if you're going to make a prequel with the same characters, it removes a great deal of the tension involving the characters. While it can be interesting to see how these characters evolved into the end point of what they became in previous films, it's an always that element of knowing "what's going to happen" that's stuck in the back of my mind.

Favorite Prequels: X-Men: First Class, Rise of the Planet of the Apes (You could argue for the prequel vs reboot for this one), Godfather Part II (DeNiro parts of the movie, you can't say I'm wrong!), Star Trek (Sort of? I just love Star Trek).

Off the top of my head some of my favorite sequels are probably Gremlins 2, Tremors 2: Aftershocks, Indiana Jones: Temple of Doom and Last Crusade (coincidentally, I actually spent many years operating under the assumption that Temple of doom was a prequel to the first), Ghostbusters 2, and call me juvenile but I really like Clerks 2.

Oh, I'd also like to say Kill Bill Vol.2 was a really great movie

I would also like to second Wrath of Khan as one of the best sequels ever, and, while I'm probably stretching the term a bit far here, I'd say that First Contact is a great sequel to Generations.,,it counts because they were the first Next Generation movies, right?
