For me, it was around 1998-2000. That's when I first got exposed to it and it just grew from there. It's really sad to think, looking at some of the Toonami clips on Youtube for just randomness that it feels like yesterday I was watching them and still remember them. I still get the chills watching them too.

@rem25: Talk about walking down memory lane, thanks for those!

@MrMazz: I know right! I wish I could go back to my high school self, come home and watch Toonami all afternoon before doing homework.

@FinalDasa: Not a problem. Once posted that first video, I just had to search. Like I said earlier, I spent half my lunch hour just watching these old clips. Now I want to dig out my Outlaw Star box-set and watch it.

I got into Toonami during my middle school years, 2003. I never knew Tenchi Muyo or the other cartoons were edited such as the hot springs in Tenchi Muyo (don't know the exact series) as a teenager. I only find out when I saw the uncensored version on the International Channel.

Somewhere in the basement I have a few old VHS tapes of recorded Tenchi Universe and I've entertained the thought of bringing them out and ripping the promos/commercials for the sake of Youtube, but I'm sure almost all of them have been uploaded at this point.

Ooh, did anyone ever watch the Midnight Run special they did for Gorillaz and Daft Punk? Actually, does anyone remember watching the Midnight Run?

I always.... okay not maybe always... suspected that the swimsuits were painted on in those scenes. When you look at them now they were very brightly colored when compared to the rest of the scene; didn't quite blend in. They did that for all the animes with nude characters. (Outlaw Star, Gundam 8th MS Team) Not like the nudity was titillating anyway.

@Paulrus: Of course I remember Midnight Run and I think I remember the Gorillaz one, was it just music videos?

Yeah, music videos from Daft Punk (Interstella 9999), Gorillaz, and a guy named Kenna.

You know, I just realized that in a lot of the promos for Toonami, they used the same voice actor that voiced Optimus Prime in the Transformer movies. Score!

Around 2003, Toonami was pretty good too because there was G Gundam, Dragonball, DBZ, YuYu Hakusho, and Rouroni Kenshin. Plus they played music videos by The White Stripes ( fell in love with a girl, with all of the Legos!), and some of Beck's more techno stuff. Plus the video game reviews were cool too.
