I know I will likely be called out for dissing The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable, but I don't really like the films of M. Night Shyamalan (I will resist my desire to call him M. Night Shymalanadingdong.) The Sixth Sense could have been due to the fact that the "twist" was ruined for me before I saw it and I couldn't help but laugh at many parts of Unbreakable. So....if I couldn't get with those movies, I have had even more problems becoming a fan of his recent work.

The movies stars Will Smith and his real life son, Jaden Smith as two humans who crash onto the Earth 1,000 years after a big disaster forced all humans off of the planet. It is now overrun by danger, and the Papa and Son must work together to survive.

Again, I wanted to laugh at much of this trailer and Will Smith's "end of the world" stoic stare, but I'm not sure if I'm just biased at this point. Watch and let me know. I'll be happy to be proven wrong.

Snarky first paragraphs work better when they're not written in broken English.

@Foggen: Thanks for the tip.

Gary Whitta wrote it, that means I'm on board!

To be fair, M. Night didn't have much hand in writing this movie. The screenplay was done by Stephen Gaghan and Gary Whitta (!). As much as I've hated everything M. Night has done since Signs, I'll admit that he's a good director, so I have hope that the screenplay combined with his directorial flair will make this movie something worth watching. I liked this trailer a lot, and I've always been a huge Will Smith fan, and no amount of Will Smith's son will keep me from seeing this.

Looks interesting and it being written by Whitta certainly makes it exciting. I like the idea of Will Smith not being the main focus but a supporting actor throughout.

Also I think all that english ain't broken.

M. Night Shyamalan has so far only made 2 good films. Seeing as he's not written this one, and that the trailer looks good, I'll give this one a chance.

Hope Gary Whitta can beat out the Shyamalan

Does anyone else think Will Smith's voice sounded a bit, robotic, I suppose? It just sounded so slightly off that makes me think he's not a human in the film. I could be wrong, I don't know.

It seemed interesting to me that this post-apocalyptic movie trailer would open with the same gas mask breathing noise that began THE BOOK OF ELI. I guess even with the same writer the two movies are different enough it won't seem like a rip-off.

I think that even though Shyamalan has made some bad movies (THE LAST AIRBENDER comes to mind), he is still a great filmmaker. Also, the Smiths are awesome actors, Whita is a good writer, and the concept is intriguing. I'm in.

The real question is which movie will have the most intense air crash, this or The Grey?

This movie would be hard pressed to beat The Grey.

They might make you think the big "twist" has already been revealed in this trailer.

"It's not just some random world in the future...it's Earth after a cataclysm!!"

But since it's Shyamalan, you can already expect something else. My guess? It's actually the past!! And Smith's kid will be the father of our own world! I can swear I saw some prehistorical creatures in this trailer...

I don't think there will be a huge twist here. I think it'll be a decent, but not outstanding drama with a good Will Smith performance, and Shaymalan will get people back on his side, despite no one actually raving about it, and it will be called a "safe" film.

THAT'S MY PREDICTION.

I would agree with that.

I saw the trailer for After Earth when I went to go see the Hobbit. It looks very weird and intriguing at the same time.
