I see a lot of movies advertised as "in Real D and Digital 3D!". Just wondering if they are basically the same or what. I've been to a 3D movie (Avatar), but I'm not even sure if it was Real D or Digital 3D.

Someone spit some knowledge.

I don't really understand what the differance between 2d and 3d is. My mind percieves everything as 2 dimensional.

After doing some reading, there are several 3D formats such as RealD, Dolby 3D, XpanD 3D and IMAX 3D. I guess the various theaters choose which format to use, but they're probably all pretty similar. To the best of my knowledge all of these formats are digital, so they're all "Digital 3D"

Real D and Dolby - less aggressive 3D but more depth.  Like you're looking into a window.
Imax 3D - more aggressive 3D but less depth.  Images pop out of the screen.
