That was not even a difficult choice. Dances with Wolves got my vote.

I chose Crash, mainly because it was pretentious. With all the problems in the world (starvation, genocide, etc. ), the film's concept seemed superficial in comparison; especially since it pretty much ignored the civil rights progression of the past 40 years. It was hard to feel sympathy for any of the charaters because of this, & as for character "development".. there was none. Lousy writing as well. (blatant)

Fuck Shakespeare in Love, totally robbed The Think Red Line or Saving Private Ryan.

It makes me angry how much better of a film Gangs of New York was than Chicago.

"The Thin Red Line" had better acting, but "Saving Private Ryan" had the better score, cinematography, sound, & videography. hence' Saving Private Ryan should have beaten both Shakespeare in Love & The Thin Red Line.

Slumdog Millionaire and The Hurt Locker are pretty great.

The Hurt Locker was the best of the nominees that year. My choice would be Crash because I even though I like it, Brokeback Mountain is a masterpiece and it's a damn shame that its subject matter cost it its well-deserved award.

Dances With Wolves snubbed Goodfellas, so it's got my vote.

Hurt Locker? Seriously? Since when was that ever considered a candidate for Worst Best Picture? I think that's just the poll-taker's personal preference showing through.

I haven't seen it yet (have the steelbook coming soon from Amazon) but I was surprised that in the same thread made on Giantbomb there were quiet a few people who didn't enjoy it. (There weren't that many, but I was still surprised that some people didn't actually like it.)

I believe that none of these beat out Driving Miss Daisy. I rest my case.

Did people not like Slumdog Millionaire?

I didnt like Hurt Locker all that much but its still not the worst best picture it has to be Shakespeare in Love it stole from two of the great war films of the past few years.

Slundog Millionaire, I agree it was very cultural and beautifully made but I just didn't think it was a good movie, the acting wasn't that 'great' either. I thought Benjamin Button was robbed.

You missed The King's Speech. Also Dances With Wolves is one of the greatest Best Picture winners of all time.

Whats wrong with you people? Crash and Slumdog Millionaire were both, if nothing else, fun and enjoyable films. That's more then you can say for Hurt Locker.

Crash was fun and enjoyable? I'm sorry but I disagree. I felt like it was pushing its message into my face literally every five seconds. So many stereotypical and extreme characters saying things that people never say. Really dislike that film.

Slumdog Millionaire I agree was fun and enjoyable and was probably the best film that came out that year. Do not love it as much as most people seem to though.

I did not care for Shakespeare in Love when I saw it, and that was before I really started following movies, so when I found out later that it had beaten out Saving Private Ryan at the Academy Awards that year I was pretty pissed.

I only voted on the worst out of the movies I was willing to suffer though, hence no Shakespeare in Love or Dances with Wolves. But man, I can't believe how overrated The Hurt Locker was. I generally enjoy military movies, but I was very unimpressed.
