Worst Case of "This kid shouldn't be here."

On the topic of what Rorie and Alex were talking about on the most recent podcast I was wondering what the worst case you ever saw of a parent bringing a child to a movie that they had no business bringing a child to. It bugs the shit out of me so let's here your stories!

For me, I think it was Blade II. There were actually several groups containing kids that were at least 10 years old or younger.

I saw this lady yelling at her scared daughter outside of the theater "GET YOUR ASS BACK IN THERE!" The daughter looked to be no more than six and the movie was Red Riding Hood.

family brought their 3 kids to see Watchmen not really THAT bad but cmon full frontal nudity and some decent gore not right for a 6 year old to see it. I asked them why they were all well its a super hero movie it must be nice and pg.....even though its rated R....I hate stupid people.

Somebody brought their children to Inglorious Bastards. I mean... BASTARDS was in the title!

@TurboMan: *Pushes up glasses* WEEEEeeel, TECHNICALLY the film is called Inglorious BASTERDS, with an E instead of the second A. This was to avoid confusion with an earlier film that was spelled properly. Get your facts right, you paramecium. *Snort* *walks away, is immediately stuffed in a trash can*

There were some 4-6 year olds in my Screening of Dark Knight. My friend told me they were crying after the movie. There are some intense scenes in there, but what can I say. I think when I was young my dad took me to Mortal Kombat and other R rated films.

Not at a movie theather but i was in my cousins house and there 6 years old watching Final Destination... COME ON

After reading some of these I am often reminded of seeing kids at comic book movies that shouldn't be there just because the parent thought "It's a comic book movie. It's suppose to be for kids." completely disregarding the rating. I know I've seen young kids at Watchmen and Punisher: War Zone.

Like I said in another thread, Pan's Labyrinth. They finally left the theater after the bottle crushing the kid's face happened.

While it is no rated-R film, both times I saw The Dark Knight in theatres there were dozens of children there from about 4-12 years old. Personally, I really did not think they should be there watching it. The parents, who don't educate themselves about MPAA ratings, just say, "Oh, Batman movie, lets bring the kids to see it." And it turns out to be a hugely dark, realistic, and occasionally disturbing crime drama.

I thought this was going to be the case with a 6 year old in Predators, but he wasn't bothered at all. He growled back at the Predator, so it was actually surprisingly adorable.

My roommate from the first couple years of college was in town last night, and he told me about how him and a buddy saw The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo recently with a mother who'd brought her two kids into the theater with her. According to him, they were a maximum of ~12 years old. Like, multiple rape scenes! How's your parenting?!

I went to a screening of Ghostbusters last Halloween. For some reason, a mom brought a god damn 4 year old and that kid talked through the whole movie.

"what's that"

"he's gone!"

"ooh what's that"

"lookit that"

Kids. Can't live with them, can't forcibly eject them from movie theaters.

When I saw Bruno I noticed a father bring his very young children into the theater. They could not have been a day over five.

I'll also go in on The Dark Knight train, I understand that it's Batman but there were some very young children there, no older than four, and that is an very violent film.

However, I do believe my roommate takes this one; when she was seven her mother took her to go see Alien 3. Not because she wanted to go, but because her mother didn't think it would be inappropriate for children. Yep.

A mother brought her two kids to see Team America: World Police which was really awkward when the puppet sex scene came up.

When my wife and I were still dating, we took her triplet cousins to see the first Transformers movie in the theater. Though it was PG-13, there were a bunch of little kids (no older than 10) with their parents and they wouldn't shut the fuck up for almost the entire movie asking questions. I ended up complaining to the manager afterwards, which is not something I normally do. I was pretty shocked when he apologized and refunded the 5 tickets.

EDIT: Also, when we went and saw Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1, we experienced three teens sitting behind us who wouldn't shut up. I told them to be quiet twice (Christ I feel old, I'm only 28!) which thankfully they did. An older couple sitting in front of us and the husband would not stop telling his wife what was coming up next. Lucky for us, another woman sitting in front of them told them to be quiet as she hadn't seen the movie yet. Yes, the books came out years ago, but it was still really obnoxious. These are the most recent events I can remember.

When I first saw Jurassic Park a little kid who looked to be around 5 or so went running down the isle bawling. That seems like a dumb movie to take a little kid to.

Used to live near Times Square and saw 8 Mile on opening night at the AMC Empire 25. There had to be 8 or 9 couples there with infants. Weird.

I'll be like the fifth person to add to The Dark Knight. Apparently people just didn't expect that movie to be so dark, including the father who brought his five or six year old daughter who sat near me. Luckily she was quiet the whole time, but damn, I don't know what she thought about the movie. Also, when I saw X-Men: First Class, a mom brought her very young child into the movie. First Class was fairly tame in general, so I can't really fault her just for that, but, at the many subtitled parts of the movie, she read the subtitles to her kid. And they discussed what was happening in the plot, and the kid talked about how he had a Magneto action figure. If your kid can't read, then don't take him to a PG-13 movie, no matter how tame it is. Teach him to read or something. HOWEVER, the one that absolutely takes the cake, was fairly recently, when a couple took their (estimating the age here) four year old child to see A VERY HAROLD AND KUMAR 3D CHRISTMAS. Now, I'm no prude, but that movie should not be seen by kids. The entire thing is just one long stream of offensive behavior, drug use, racism, violence, sex, nudity, and a fuckload of swearing. And most disturbing was how much the kid was laughing at all of it, especially the jokes that should have gone way over his head. I fear for the youth of our future.
