Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas despite negative review from critics became a massive cult-classic among people because it shows that the american dream is nonexistent. I am posting this as a thread so i can reach more people. Especially Rorie and Alex

I think a great candidate for Defending your movie is Mallrats. That movie did not get all the credit it deserved.

I don't think it deserves to nominated simply because of the vehemence of it's sizable fan-base.

Fear and Loathing doesn't need defending. It's been picked up in the recent years as a good movie and has quite a following.

Dave needs to defend Lady in the Water because he stated on one of the earliest podcasts he was going to and it has not come to pass. I just want to see how anyone could possibly provide a thought-provoking defense for that film.

@fernandoabel: I liked most of Mallrats, just the part of having it climax with the dating show kinda ruins it for me. It became like a sitcom episode, too cliche. Chasing Amy was just so superior in the specific jokes and setups especially those performed by Jason Lee. The fact that Amy was so much more of a full movie than a comedy sketch, and that Clerks was so groundbreaking leave Mallrats in this maybe undeserved letdown middleground.

@theandrewtaylor: In general, I don't have a trouble with cliches when they are done right, although you make a compelling argument...
Salute.

I myself would vote for The Corporation, but that is most likely too one-sided and if it were opinionated (if any of the staff liked it) then it could cause some people to want to leave, but @Rorie, @Alex if you want to take time to see the movie I highly suggest it. I do hope you guys start a documentary feature. That would be pretty awesome!

  Burn After Reading

I know it has a lot of respect from critics (especially being a Coen movie), but I feel like it's considered one of their weaker works, and I feel that it's a much better movie than it's made out to be

I could go along with this. I, like you, dig Burn After Reading a great deal. I actually like the film more than The Big Lebowski. Yeah, I said it.

I believe Unbreakable is a good candidate.  It receives so-so reviews and is directed by M. Night Shamalan,  someone with a real bad reputation in the movie business nowadays.  I personally think its his best work and a great performance by Bruce Willis.  It's not an action film, more like a deep and thoughtful character study (with a twist!).  Just a thought.
