I love this forum. I used to live in Champaign Illinois which is the home of Roger Ebert's Overlooked Film Festival, and I kinda miss it. These are of course in no particular order and subject to change by whim.

1. Crimewave - Sam Raimi + The Coen Brothers = Massive Funny

2. Garage Days - Alex Proyas before he went crazy and did I Robot and Knowing.

3. Soldier - Kurt Russel's meditation on the nature of humanity... in a Science Fiction action flick.

4. Fido - One of the best zombie movies of all time, and criminally ignored.

5. The City of Lost Children - Easily Jean-Pierre Jeunet's best pre-Amelie outing.

@ruckus24: I don't have a top five exactly, I'd like to nominate The Killing though by Stanley Kubrick, I'd go so far as to say it's one of his best films.

I've started a list a few years ago of all the best movies I've seen - then I made a sub-list of the ones I thought were hidden gems.

I made a website where I give a brief synopsis and review (no more than a few short paragraphs) and an embedded trailer.

Check it out:

About fifty movies so far - feel free to comment.

I agree mostly with Kubrick's The Killing, but I feel 2001: A Space Odyssey, if you get the point of what he was doing, is still his best. But yes, The Killing is a lost gem that's nearly impossible to find.

As for the list I like it, though I wouldn't say The City of Lost Children is a hidden gem.

My hidden gem would be Eddie Presley. Only found out about it cause my buddy Jeff Burr was the director of it. Amazing work for a less than million dollar film, with quite a few famous faces.
