This type of animation seems to be a lost art.  I love every bit of most stop motion animation, be them shorts or feature films. Are there any stop motion movies out there that you love?

Having recently watched Street of Crocodiles, I'd have to recommend it.  While the plot is kind of hard to grasp, the visuals are both beautiful and terrifying. The full short can be found here in two parts.

The Adventures of Prince Achmed and the stop motion Peter and the Wolf were both pretty cool.  Also, anything with Wallace & Gromit.  Since at least two stop motion films have won Oscars in the last six years, there's still hope for the medium.  Hopefully.

I feel like in the future, people will simply use CGI to approximate the "feel" of stop motion, which I understand because stop motion is extremely time consuming. But, much like old fashioned "movie magic" compared to CGI, you can always tell when someone put in the effort to do it the old fashioned way. There's something too clean about CGI that makes it hard to emulate the charm of stop motion. In Coraline, the CGI scenes for me were pretty obvious to see. Everything got a little cleaner and a little more uniform and lost a bit of its charm.

Fantastic Mr. Fox is probably the best recent example that I can think of. The animation is incredible, and the movie is just plain great. Check it out if you haven't already.

Look no further than Flushed Away, my good man.

I love stop motion, but I feel like it would be hard for people who grew up on hand animated and CG to really enjoy the somewhat herky jerky-ness of the stop animated style. Harryhausen was a great animator, no doubt, but his shit looks so rough now. I love claymation and stop motion, but yeah, it's dying.

Most recent one I saw was Max and Mary (oh, it's Mary and Max, I didn't like it enough to change it)

Jason and the Argonaughts
i like it better than the original clash(just a little more)
I practically grew up on Ray Harryhausen. His films were the reason I became obsessed with special effects, and ultimately film at a very young age. I will never ever forget the skeleton duel in "Jason and the Argonauts". I'm trying to remember how much time it took Ray to animate just that scene, something like 2 or 3 months I think.
