I was looking through the lists the other day and I found that no one had this film on any of their lists.

The Day of the Jackal is about an assassin, codenamed the Jackal, who is assigned to kill the President of France. The film is great because it takes its time and builds on suspense rather than packing dozens of action sequences. The movie uses many off-screen deaths, but I think that adds to the overall ruthlessness of the assassin. Overall, anyone who wants to view this film has to pay attention; the movie can be pretty subtle.

I haven't seen the remake, but it must been really bad since the novel's author asked to be removed from the credits.

You know, it's funny, but I actually found myself rooting for the Assassin, because he was the main character.

But other than that, it was a slow-paced and methodical thriller, and I enjoyed it.

One of my favourite movies.

This proves that great direction and storytelling make a compelling thriller, not hyperactive editing.
