I haven't watched Punch Drunk Love but I heard its one of the few films that Adam Sandler actually gives a damn.

I didn't even know Oldboy was a romance (I haven't watched this one either).

Edit: While I can't tell what to watch since I haven't seen any of these films either, I can tell which films that people often reccomend.

1. Punch Drunk Love

2. Oldboy (Hollywood is making a remake of this one)

3. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

Personally I would recommend Up in the Air. it has some romantic elements but it doesn't have a Hollywood ending. If you really want to go out and want some that is not the typical Hollywood fare, I would recomment Let the Right One In (the Swedish version)

Here's some more good ones that I just remembered

1. Annie Hall - Winner of the 1977 Academy Award for Best Picture. Its more realistic in terms of love and relationships because it is based on a real relationship. The movie is very non-linear and the main characters breaks the 4th wall frequently in the movie. The movie is very charming and has a very particular sense of humor that is hard to describe but very likeable. The interesting thing about this movie is that the main character is played by Woody Allen and the movie is also directed Woody Allen; to top it off the movie is also based a true event in Woody Allen's life.

2. An Education - This one focuses on the relationship between an underage girl and an older man in his 20's. During the movie the girl has to choose between the older man or a chance to go to Oxford University. If like the show Mad Men, this is the movie for you.

3. Lolita (1962) - When this movie came out, it was panned by critics. Now it is considered a classic, but it is not conventional at all. The story is about a man who hooks up with this woman so he could date her 12 year old daughter.

4. Heavenly Creatures - I just realized that a majority of my recommendations deal with an underage minor dating an adult This to balance things out. Though Heavenly Creatures isn't technically about love, the relationship between the two main characters is so disturbing and obsessive that it might as well be love. By the end of the movie, i could definitely say they would kill for each other. Its based on a true story and its Peter Jackson's breakout film (kind of like his Sixth Sense, except he kept making good movies).

@Dilutedseid: This topic is WAAAY too broad. I love recommending movies, but if you're asking for non-Hollywood flicks that have some romance in them, that's a list of thousands. Maybe let us know a few more things that you're looking for?

For now though, I'd really recommend every Chan-Wook Park movie from Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance on to now. You already listed Oldboy and I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK, and all of his other films are equally great with similar themes about loyalty, revenge, and unexpected love. Thirst is probably the most romance focused. Check 'em out!!!

Man, I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK was such a crazy movie. I agree with gangly about checking out Chan-Wook Park. I haven't seen Thirst yet, but his other movies that I've seen are excellent.

I really liked Fish Tank.
