Where is it? Does anyone know if he's published it already? Does it exist?

It's like half written on my desktop. I'll post it this week sometime. Life just, you know, keeps getting in the way.

That was 1 week ago.

What if I told you guys that his all ten of his favorite albums are the Chipmunks 3 soundtrack?

I'm really looking forward to his list :) This is my only prediciton of an album that will make the list:

  • Mastodon - The Hunter

And here's what I'm hoping to see (pointless, but anyways)

  • Decapitated - Carnival is forever
  • The Vessels - Helioscope
  • Graveyard - Hisingen Blues
  • Darren Korb - Bastion Soundtrack
  • Danger Mouse & Danielle Luppi - Rome

I know a lot of the WM staff are a bit on the hipstery side, but I don't think mainstream is below Alex at all. I really hope he wont take "popularity" into consideration. There's already plenty of those lists (*cough* pitchfork *cough*).

All I want is the damn list. Preferably if it's like a top 100 list like it was two, I think, two years ago.

I was going to ask this question a week ago but then I looked at Alex's profile and saw album covers in his images so you can spoil some of the list if you want.

Except Drake's album was in pitchfork's top 10 album and Nicki Minaj's "Super Bass" was #5 on best songs of the year so that sorta invalidates your comment about that site. As for Alex, last year his album choices were pretty obscure, mainstream wise. The biggest artists last year being Ghostface Killah, The Black Keys, and Arcade Fire, so yeah still pretty far from mainstream, but i'm sure there will be some much bigger artist on this years list.

If I were go off Alex's images then Foo Fighers and The Beastie Boys are on it.

I had to look up both Drake and Super Bass to know what the hell you where talking about, guess I'm not cool enough to comment on important stuff like... top lists.

(the Blotted Science EP would be obscure. Arcade Fire isn't.)

I don't think any of the Whiskey Media staff comes close to identifying themselves as "hipsters", whatever that still is supposed to mean.

I've always found my own music and have my own tastes, but I used to look forward to Alex's list (still do, kind of). Then, post-Gamespot, it got absurd and went up to 100 albums compared to 20-40 when he first started. I'm not saying it isn't possible for one person to like 100 albums in one year, but there isn't a year-end list in music that should go over 40, but probably 20. It starts to become meaningless when there's such a thing as the #87 best album of 2011.

@Christoffer: As long as you learned your lesson it's all good =P.

@Christoffer: You had to look up Drake and Super Bass? Have you not seen any commercial or been early enough to see "the 20" at any movie in the past 2 years?

Nope and nope. And I don't live in the US so that might be a big reason why I haven't heard of them. And I'm terrible at keeping up with some genres of music.
