  • Yeah, of course. (what do you listen to?)
  • No, now shut up and let me sleep
  • Sometimes. (how do you decide?)

I usually listen to classical music, but sometimes I'll fall asleep to a soundtrack

I frequently listen to various podcasts while in bed.

I find it too distracting. Even if it's gentle piano music, unless I'm dead tired it will keep me awake.

I listen to podcasts usually. I need a little noise to drown out the non stop thinking.

I will tend to put on a film or tv show that I've already seen. I find myself dissecting music if I use that and podcasts and unseen tv/films will hold my attention until they're finished. If I use nothing then I'll think and never get to sleep. If it's the fellowship of the ring however, then I don't need to absorb any information and it stops my mind thinking. It does mean that I know the first hour of dialogue to that film along with phrasing so I find myself just watching the actors read the script that's in my head but that usually does it for sleeping!

Not music, but podcasts. MBMBAM, Adam and Joe, Friday Night Comedy, Stuff You Should Know, Stuff to Blow Your Mind, Behind the Screened Door and the Bombcast,

I listen to podcasts or audio books if anything. Other than that, I listen to my upstairs neighbour who pees 5-6 times before bed straight in the noisiest center of the toilet.

Usually listen to some music and then when I am really tired i just turn it off. It's normally ambient, chilled stuff, like this.

Although ever since I got an iPad I have been watching some stuff instead.

I just slap on my last.fm mix radio station. The surround speaker next to my head sort of makes it feel like headphones without actually having headphones on.

Exactly the same for me.

Good music is too interesting to help me sleep. I recommend audiobooks, get ones boring enough and they'll knock you right out.

Nope, it usually just keeps me awake. I prefer complete darkness and total silence when I'm trying to sleep.

I've tried it but it doesn't work for me.

This. Sometimes I'll put on a podcast rather than watch some TV at night but when its time to sleep music only distracts.

Pretty much never.

Yeah, I do. I have 4 that usually do a pretty good job of nocking me out: Kind of Blue by Miles Davis, Spirit of Eden and Laughing Stock by Talk Talk, and Astral Weeks by Van Morrison.

Yeah, pretty much every night, be it music or a podcast. I used to have so much trouble sleeping that it would take me hours to fall asleep. Since I started listening to stuff it's gotten a lot easier. Although lately it's gotten tougher, but that's probably just because of my dumb sleep schedule.

Although finding a pair of headphones that are comfortable to sleep in can be a little tough sometimes.
