For the last couple weeks I have had a strong recollection of a film i saw probably about 10 years when i was between the ages of 10 and 12. I really can't remember much about it other then the fact that it was: A) Low-budget, possibly a direct to DVD release. B) In a medieval setting, possibly fantasy. C) About a disgraced knight who awakens on the shore of a river at the start of the film, possibly with amnesia. and D) Eventually winds up moving to a desert environment at one point. As i said, i've been having vivid memories of a few snippets of the film (as well as my Dad showing it to me at the video store) and the fact no matter how hard i try searching the interwebs i can't find anything about it is driving me nuts. I can't stop thinking about this movie (even though i distinctly remember not particularly enjoying it) and only knowing its name will spare my sanity! If anyone knows anything about this movie please lend a brother a hand!

@Donkeycow: So it's from the early 00's? Also, any other characters or plot things could really help jog our memories.

@gangly: Judging from the quality of the visuals i would say the movie was definitely from either the late 90's or early 2000's but i definitely saw it in the early 00's. As far as characters go all i remember is the priorly mentioned disgraced knight who has amnesia (possibly). He was some sort of great hero for his nation at one time and people often recognize him where he goes. His nation is at war during the film, and since he is a deserter he spends some of the time avoiding being noticed by soldiers, however at the end of the movie he rejoins his people in the war effort. Other then that all i can remember is a one on one fight in a desert and a peasant girl who finds him on the river bank at the start of the film.

@Dylabaloo: Thanks, though i doubt my sanity will be saved since from what i can tell it was an incredibly obscure film. Though it was big enough to be carried at the local blockbuster, so who knows!

Did a little bit of research, and I can safely say that there's no amnesia-plotted movies that fit this description, but without that point there's nothing to go on. I'd need something, an actor, a more notable set-piece, anything.

@litrock: Unfortunately I can't name any actors or specific character names, if i could it would be simple enough to track down. As far as i remember it was all no names but then again i was about 10 so i can't be certain on that front. In terms of specific set pieces, there were not many. There was not much action to had, it was quite a meandering tale with little happening throughout im pretty sure. Specific scenes that i recall though included the main character being found lying on the edge of a river at the start of the film by a peasant girl, the aforementioned battle in the desert (all i recall on this front was that the battle took place on a sand dune and it was 1 on 1) and at the end of the movie the protagonist rejoined his army which was in the process of retreat, and his presence rallied them back to battle (though we witness no such battle). Also the tabard the people of his nation wore was a purple colour. Additionally i distinctly remember the back of the box using the phrase "disgraced knight".

Only thing I can think of from that time period set in medieval times was 13th Warrior, but I don't know if that matches any of the other descriptions of what you're looking for.

Well it took me bloody ages but i tracked it down. Thanks for the help everyone, i didn't really give you guys much to go on but i do appreciate you trying. I finally found it by going to IMDb, using the advanced search function and inputting "Knight" under plot description search, and lo and behold the 513th film on that list was something called Westender. It sounded familiar to me so i opened it up and there it was. I quickly ran to youtube for a trailer to confirm this and yup, that was it. From the looks of the trailer it appears to be a horrendous film but i just had to know what it was. Thanks again for your help, cheers! By the way i'm am still curious if i am the only person to have seen this film.

@Suedehead: I know right? Truly a film with no peer. Though i must admit some of the cinematography didn't seem TERRIBLE. Also i am tempted to see it again just to finish this week long journey of rediscovering this weird ass obscure film.
