After several months dominated by Zuffa run promotions we have a light month from the top MMA promotion. But do not fear there is still TONS of MMA to be had.The majority of your MMA this month will be from Bellator Fighting Championship as they start their sixith season of tournaments. The tournaments this season will be bantamweight to middleweight. Bellator has always put on good tournaments 155lbs and under going above 170lbs though things start to get sketchy (read terrible). Still having weekly MMA for about the next 12 weeks should be fun.

UFC ON FX 2-ALVES VS KAMPMANN MARCH, 03/02, 2012 FX and FUEL

Start out March right with mother F’ing FLYWEIGHTS!!! Yes the mainevent is a fun welterweight matchup between Thiago Alves and Martin Kampmann but the real love should be towards the start of a flyweight tournament.Flyweight is 125lbs and will make its debut in the UFC finally after about two years of bugging two promotions. The current #1 ranked flyweight Ian McCall will take on Demetrious Johnson and Joseph Benavidez will take on Shooto 123lbs champion Yasuhiro Urushitani.People have long asked for another tournament within the UFC and now they get it. Also on the card is a fun middleweight scrap between TUF winner Court McGee and Constatinos Philippou. If you want to learn more about Ian McCall you can read a little somthing I wrote HERE and for Urshitani HERE

STRIKEFORCE TATE VS ROUSEY MARCH, 03, 2012 Showtime and prelims ShoExtreme

Womens MMA is often over looked and forgotten. But when they have a good fight lined up it should be noticed, thats what the main event of Miesha Tate vs. Ronda Rousey. Olympian judoka Rounda Rousey has torn threw her competition with vicious armbars now she faces her steepest test in bantamweight champion Miesha Tate.A pair of lightweight bouts also stand out on the card with KJ Noons vs Josh Thompson and Pat Healy vs Caros Fodor. The winners here would most likely challange Gilbert Melendez next.

BFC 60 - WARREN VS CURRAN MARCH, 09, 2012 MTV2 prelims SPIKE.com

Featherweights are the name of the game top to bottom of the main card. At the top you have BFC Featherweight Champion Joe Warren defends against featherweight tournament winner Pat Curran. This should be a solid fight Warren has a insanely tough chin and is extremly reliant on his Greco-Roman Wrestling to win his fights which normally leads to him being smashed on. The featherweight tournament quearterfinals will go down with some fun fighters like Marlon Sandro,Ronnie Mann,Popo Bezzearra and Daniel Straus.

The undercard also gives you a look at some future tournament fighters if they win. UFC veterans Sean McCorkle,Shamar Baley and lineal BFC light heavyweight champion Travis Wiuff are all fighting. You can see these fights via stram on SPIKE.com

BFC 61 - PRINDLE VS SANTOS MARCH, 16, 2012 MTV2 prelims SPIKE.com The Heavyweight tournament from Season 5 ended in a NC after Thiago Santos kicked Eric Prindel in the balls WHILE HE WAS ON HIS BACK. Bellator with its mantra of only tournament winners fight champions a rematch was in order. Yea this is regional heavyweights (read big and gas quickly).Santos is quicker and a better grappler he should win this fight barring another kick south of the equator. The middleweight quarterfinals go down here there are some fun strikers in there with the Arm Collector Giva Santana thrown in there.

BFC 62 - WOODARD VS FREIRE March, 23, 2012 MTV2 prelims SPIKE.com

Bellator has a habit of finding really good lightweights. One of the Freire Pitbull brothers Patricky will fight Loyd “Cupcake” Woodard in the mainevent. The Freire brothers have a penchant for violence and devistation. Before runnining into eventual champion Michal Chandler Patricky stopped his opponets. Former welterweight tournament participant Rick Hawn drops down to lightweight and takes on Ricardo Triloni who weird tattoos aside has a solid resume and skill level.

BFC 63 - SAUNDERS VS AMAYA March, 30, 2012 MTV2

Welterweight is all thats left and they close the month with their opening round. Karl Ammousso takes on Chris Lozano both of whom favor themselves a devistating striker.Ben Saunders returns to the tournament after making it to the finals but losing to Douglas Lima. Former middleweight Bryan Baker will attempt to cut down and most likely be massive.

Ahhhhh I'm so hype for Flyweights, man. No question.

I've never seen Bellator, just because I have no idea if I have MTV2 or not (I probably do). I'll look into that, I always want to watch more MMA but I never get the chance to.

@VinceNotVance: Hell obscure TV listings haven't been their only problem. They used to run shows on Saturday 9/10 on the same day of a UFC/Strikeforce card. Its like which am I going to see Jon Jones defend against Rampage or see the quarterfinals of a heavyweight tournamnet that make me groan? For Season 6 they have moved to Friday nights which is great and all but will run up against TUF but Bellator would win the which is more "important" battle in my mind.

Their bantamweight tournament is pretty awesome.
