Nice. I still need to see BEASTS OF THE SOUTHERN WILD, AMOUR, and DJANGO UNCHAINED.

btw, there is no way you will get to see FLIGHT or THE MASTER. They left theaters months ago but don't come out on DVD until after the Oscars. I missed THE MASTER when it was in theatres and now I will never see it :(

@VioletEyedDragon: I am hoping to see them in art house cinemas or something to that degree.

That's some dedication

I'm ashamed to admit the only ones I've seen are

Best Animated Feature Film

Frankenweenie

Paranorman

Brave

None of which I thought was over the top spectacular.

@the_referee: Oh well it makes watching the Academy Awards actually a lot more interesting. Almost no one makes the shorts available though

I'm really torn as to who's gonna win this year.

I mean, last year, we knew The Artist was gonna win big, this year, I'm torn.

Good point I never thought of it that way.

@CherryBomb: From what I have seen so far I would say Jennifer Lawrence is likely for Playbook and Hathaway for Les Mis. I would like to think that Jackman could get best actor, but I havent seen Lincoln yet.

@the_referee: Yes, when random obscure fillmmaker gets on stage to offer thanks, it helps to know who they are. Then it is not all just waiting through the boring stuff for the end categories.

I'd really like that to happen, BUT, I don't think Jennifer's role in Silver Linings is as dramatic as Jessica Chastain's in Zero Dark Thirty, or Naomi Watts in The Impossible. They tend to shy away from Comedy-drama's, but hopefully this year is different. I don't think there's any clear winner in Best Actress, it's literally so hard to predict :/ I hope J-Law wins, she was robbed by Natalie Portman last time :(

Yay! Two more off of the list. Best actress down to only the one entrant now

@CherryBomb: I am pulling for Lawrence. I think Chastain and Watts were good, but didn't really stand out as much from their cast like Lawrence did Hopefully she wins, though I haven't seen Amour yet.

Post by CherryBomb (1,256 posts) See mini bio

@RazzaTazz: Yeah, I hope they award her Best Actress, I haven't even seen the other films, but I hear the woman from Amour is a dark horse to win.

I really tried to like Lincoln, but I couldn't get past 40 minutes.

@CherryBomb: I will update my predictions after I see that one :)

@ThePickle: It is next one my list of ones to watch I think.

Don't let me discourage you, I just don't think Spielberg films are for me anymore.

One more off the list. Searching for Sugar Man, 5 star movie.

@ThePickle: I have heard that it is a bit boring in parts, but it has lots of nominations, so it is a must.

what did you think of it??

Post by tibbs17 (8 posts) See mini bio

I don't mean to put this whole "seeing all the awards movies" idea down, but being nominated for an oscar literally means nothing. Great movies came out this year that are not popular or have enough money or fame or star power that will never ever ever ever ever get nominated, looked at, or even appreciated. So please don't watch award movies exclusively. There are much better movies than the ones nominated. But the movies that are nominated are great movies, don't get me wrong, but there are so many movies out there that are on an equal, and many times, higher level than the ones nominated.

Post by RazzaTazz (54 posts) See mini bio

@VioletEyedDragon: Meh, it had a lot of potential but didn't reach it at many points.

@tibbs17: Agreed, I usually watch the Oscars though, and I find it kind of weird doing so without having seen most of the movies (which was me last year)
