They only get weirder from here...

So, if you read my last post, you would know I just moved out of LA to finish college for Finance and while there, I signed up for local film festivities, kind of pretending I was a film student. Well, an entire year has passed, and I was so focused on school, I didn't really make many other videos. Instead I spent a lot of time maxing out my credits in finance and working on feature length screenplays in my free time.

WASTELAND

So, what you see below is an entire year later, same competition and I've been consuming way too much of the Mad Max trilogy. We actually had a full day to work with this one, some dirty clothes and toy guns lying around, and the pitch to my friends was, "Let's make a post-apocalyptic story of hygiene."

We kind of ran out of time near the end of this -- the ending's kind of thrown together. Also, I couldn't do much of the filming, because I had to be in front of the camera because no one else was willing to run around in a towel for the day.

Like I said, it only gets weirder from here...

I hope that the fat guy with a sword is a permanent feature in young Joey's filmography, he looks straight out of Final Fantasy. Also, you're a brave man doing a fight scene like that with only a towel on.

Dude this rules! The editing on this reminds me of something I'd see in the 80's with the particular style of a few things. You did a good job on this considering what you were like an amateur at the right?

@Llewelyn: Haha, yeah I kind of forgot we still had the same props and stuff, so we thought, "hell, lets make him a recurring character." I remember deciding if we ever did this film festival again, I would make a third film that ties the two together, conjuring up some way for them to exist in the same universe or something.

@CrimsonAvenger: Yeah totally, you know actually, I think this was the first time I actually edited with Final Cut. Before I was fooling around with Avid, but I was still super new at editing. They forced us to use FCP on this project though. I went back to Avid for a few years after this to actually learn some hardcore editing, but eventually ended up back at Final Cut.

I remember being very confused with how it worked.
