I decided to check out what the new UK Netflix has to offer me, and this is the page for TV. Please tell me this is just a tiny selection of the TV shows they have to offer? On the Recently Added page it shows a few TV shows that I am pretty sure you can already watch for free on 4OD and ITVPlayer etc.

I'dpay £5.99 a month to NOT watch Westwood present Pimp My Ride

Has anyone signed up yet, are you happy with the service? It's £5.99 for unlimited online streaming. At the moment I pay £9.99 at LoveFilm for unlimited streaming, and unlimted DVDs (2 at home at once.) LoveFilm's online streaming selection isn't exactly amazing, but if this is all Netflix has to offer then it pales in comparison.

I'm sure it will get a better selection soon...

I currently use LoveFilm for renting games. I think their streaming selection is pretty terrible, as is the quality of the streams. Plus I just find their website annoying and slow to use.

But I signed up for Netflix this morning and was pleasntly surprised by the line up, in terms of how much there was that I wanted to watch. However, as things stand I will end up watching all of it by the time the free trial is over, so unless they start adding a ton of new stuff, I can't see myself paying. There is so much on there that is missing.

I think the streaming quality is great though. Fingers crossed they release an iPad app soon as well.

If their selection improves over the next month I could definitely see myself continuing with both Netflix and LoveFilm. I recommend giving the free trial a go! You can cancel at any time.

@OrigamiAngel: Yea I am going to give the free trail a go I think, I always forget to cancel those things though! Which is how I ended up with Amazon Prime.

Haha. I did the exact same thing. Fortunately they refunded the money and cancelled it.

@Christina: I was just flicking through a thread on a different site and it seems like there's a wider range of stuff available than they're showing on those pages - shows like Breaking Bad. Seems weird that they're not advertising it though...

@skidd: Yeah, the selection is actually way better than I thought it would be - seasons 2-14 of Top Gear, all in HD!

Not tried it on my 360 yet but the PC streaming is brilliant, you can get HD within a few seconds of buffering. Much, much better quality and selection than Lovefilm, and cheaper as well. Got the free trial now but I'll definitely be keeping it.

When it came to Canada the selection was really really bad. But now (imo) it's getting some decent stuff and there is enough content to justify the price for me.

@ElectricBoogaloo: Nice! Just out of interest, are there many other popular TV shows are there? (Mad Men, US comedy shows etc.)

It looks good; but the selection is poor. I'll cancel my lovefilm and sign up soon, hopefully.

@skidd: There's stuff like 24, Twin Peaks, Prison Break, Dexter, the US Office, Weeds, Arrested Development, Scrubs, South Park and so on.

Quite a lot of British stuff as well with things like Doctor Who, Shameless, Peep Show etc.

@ElectricBoogaloo: Sounds like a decent amount to start with. Thanks for the info!

@ElectricBoogaloo: Wow, why are they advertising stuff like Pimp My Ride and Power Rangers when they have some pretty good TV shows on it. That seems crazy.

Edit: The Twin Peaks won me over, I am signing up right now. haha.

Thank god, I thought the browse selection was all they had; who ever designed that page is a fool. Finally I'll watch Twin Peaks.

Netflix has always done a terrible job of letting users browse their content libraries. When they were just a DVD service, it made sense from a business standpoint, but with their streaming catalogue, it's just a hassle.

the tv side of things seems to be alright.... but the movie side of things is pretty terrible, hopefully more stuff will be added in the coming weeks before the free month is over

I think the main difference is the in the video quality of the streamed content. Lovefilm just looks like shit compared to the Netflix streams.

@Christina: I notice that you have 2 itunes icons on the taskbar. If you unpin the first which is inactive and then pin the one that is active it should work as just one! I had the same thing!

I definitely want to see what netflix has to offer, but as with Amazon Prime and other things I don't want to waste my free trial when I could save it for some sort of emergency or special occasion. Plus I have pretty slow internet anyway so I don't know who well it will work for me. I guess I'm going to wait to see what everyone else thinks first and maybe I'll look into it again in about a month! Thanks for being my guinea pigs!

Has it actually launched? Trying to find the UK/Irish site at the moment and so far I've got nothing. I have been waiting to jump on the Netflix train since we don't have any other film streaming in Ireland (any major ones anyway).

I have been using Lovefilm instant since it was available on the xbox. A lot of the selection was shit but I've stuck with it since the 5.99 is great even if you only watch 4 films a month. I just got the Netflix free trial and im pretty sure I'll cancel my Lovefilm in the next few days. The Lovefilm app has no TV shows on it as far as I can tell and Netflix has much better overall selection.

Submissions can take several hours to be approved.
