Question about the usage of music in entertainment

I've never quite understood the rules of reusing music. Is it ok for the Fez composer to basically steal this music?

It's Chopin. He died so long ago I believe all his music is public domain now.

It's never okay for a composer to steal anything, but once it's in the Public domain it's up for grabs, so that composer wasn't stealing at all. Like Red pointed out, pretty much every classical composition can be used without paying royalties, as well as most silent films now, and also every myth and fairy tale. Those Snow White flicks ain't paying shit to nobody. ;)
