Off-Topic

So I just finished watching the last and final season of Dexter and though I kind of hated the last two seasons for different reasons, I still love the show and the characters as a whole.

Can anyone recommend me anything to watch that is on par with Dexter? I have already watched all of Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead, but they just didn't have that same feeling that Dexter had. I also tried Lost on Netflix, but couldn't get passed the pilot because of the acting and the writing.. that's right... i'm one of the few people who hate Lost. I was also recommended American Horror Story last week by some friends, but all that show did was leave me questioning my faith in FX. ( I love Archer and Sunny)

Basically.. I need something compelling. It doesn't have to make the most sense (because God knows Dexter made almost zero) but it has to keep me interested and in tuned...

Any ideas as where to go from here?

Im not sure what would be the best alternative to dexter but here are some good drama shows.

Any HBO show:

• The Wire
• Deadwood
• Oz
• Boardwalk empire
• The sopranos
• Game of Thrones
• Rome

Or maybe Madmen or Burn Notice.

I second Game of Thrones. That show is intense.

Battlestar Galactica. The show is so much more than the typical "oh it's just a sci-fi show" saying. Also, Game of Thrones is great too.

The Shield, Sons of Anarchy, Burn Notice, Battlestar Galactica, and The Wire are all excellent shows.

@Acura_Max: I agree Dexter and Game of Thrones are nearly identical.  Hard to tell them apart.  I have to make sure I am watching Showtime so I know it is Dexter and not Game of Thrones.
 
If you want to see a where a lot of the secondary characters from Dexter got their start I highly recommend the uber gruesome OZ.  You will never look at J.K. Simmons the same way again.
  If you want to see the show that made Michael C. Hall a star and a good family drama then watch Six Feet Under.   Look for a young Rainn Wilson.
If you want cops that think they are above the law the watch the show that put FX on the map then see The Shield.

I think I have watched some of The Wire when I was a kid... I think my dad used to watch it.

I have actually watched bits and pieces of Terriers. It sucks that it got cancelled.
