Reynolds might be pushing his luck but here it goes,

My problem with Reynolds playing Conner Macleod (or whatever descendant they decide to go with) is that Reynolds probably won't attempt a Scottish Accent. Not to mention the fact that he's not a bankable star no matter how hard you try to spin it. His last movie Safe House only did well because of Denzel Washington. Knowing Hollywood this movie will likely have a high budget (how high? I have no idea?) Reynolds is already trying to escape a trio of flops from last year (Green Lantern/ The Change Up/ Fireflies in the Garden). Green Lantern's budget was well over 200 million and it turned into a disaster. RIPD is rumored to have a budget around the same and I doubt it's concept is all that appealing (even with Jeff Bridges in the movie).
As much as I like him as an actor I really think that Ryan Reynolds is pushing his luck with these new big budgeted projects. He has yet to prove that he can get people out of their seats and into the movie theaters. No matter how hot the ladies may think he is. Plus Ryan Reynolds as a Macleod, those words alone bring laughter to my face.
