Strap yourselves in, shit’s about to get meta.

Also, a short blog about “planning” is an an excuse to link a good song in. Listen to it.

So, mostly here I’ve been doing “Episodic” posts, which are ostensibly me reacting episode by episode to shows I’m watching, focused on stuff I may not be interested in, and chronicling my ups and downs. Like Friendship Is Magic, for example. There are some downs there! I’m currently watching The West Wing, and so far, that’s all ups. And in doing research, getting pictures and clips, I got a few unwanted spoilers, so I’m no longer going to write about that one.

I have some posts written, but there are no ups and downs. There are only ups. Unlike a FIM, it’s a (sorry Callum) show that has some real depth, subtext and serialised elements which means I’m still gonna write posts about it, but aftereach season, and more thematic general posts, rather than on each episode at a time.

This probably means less frequent writing, but better writing. Or it means I’m taking 2 weeks off from my life to watch The West Wing non stop. Who knows? Such is the power of televisual media.

This was a public service announcement from me to you. Be on your merry way and enjoy your day.

@Jensonb: oh man it's so fucking good.

Also long time no screened.

@Tylea002: I duck back in every now and then...In this case to solicit research respondents. And then I came across your Blog Post on the forum and I was like "hey I know that guy!" so I read it.

@MrMazz: I tried to get back into Sports Night, my first Sorkin foray from so long ago, and couldn't. Maybe it was the pilot episode but everything felt too dramatic and the laugh track seemed to undercut the meaningful interplay between characters. One minute you have an intense scene between two long time friends and coworkers and the next the audience is losing its shit because of a small joke that wasn't really that funny. So weird to dive into something you used to love and come out feeling icky.

Breaks are always good! Trust me. Been using Screened almost 3 years and been a moderator for 2 of them. Sometimes a week away, or even a few days, can make you feel refreshed.

@FinalDasa: "Seems to me we've all been taking a little break. Nothing wrong with taking a break, breaks are good, and I know how hard you all work."

~President Bartlet, Episode 1.

HOW RELEVANT.

When I read this subject I thought it meant you were taking a step back from Screened altogether and I was going to weep. As for this...I say, write however you feel you produce the best stuff and have the best viewing experience. I feel like it morphs and changes with each show. :) Oh, President Bartlett. I miss you.

Oh, hell no! I'm still writing lots and here on screened, just not for every episode of a show.

and I'm now on episode 12 of The West Wing. I'll probably finish the full season in about 3 weeks.

GONNA BE AN EXCELLENT THREE WEEKS.

@FinalDasa: Yea when I first watched it the laugh track is pretty obnoxious, and so not Sorkin. It gets phased about 3/4 of the way through season 1 and isn't all that noticable after like the 10th ep if memory serves.
