A few nights back a roommate and I somehow settled on the idea of getting an arcade cabinet and began scouring craigslist. After a few expensive dead ends we settled on a MAME cabinet. MAME is an emulator that allows the user to download a handful of legal ROMs that resemble older arcade games, and if one so choose illegal ROMs to play 1000s of arcade games.
Well the MAME cabinet fell through and in our sorrow we drove 40 minutes to grab a Virtua Fighter Remix Cabinet. Its a simple machine with a lack of artwork but it works. And more importantly it can be a great start to a custom MAME machine in the future, but for now I have an arcade cabinet sitting in my house.
From here we plan to add a few more joysticks and buttons (preferably 6-8 per player) and of course clean the cabinet up a bit.
