If you don't do this Quest, Vince Vaughn will permanently become Santa Claus. You don't want that. We don't want that. Nobody wants that.

In between caroling, present wrapping, and general bouts of holiday cheer, the Screened staff thought up a new Quest for you brave souls: The 12 Days of Whiskey. For those of you familiar with our Quest system, this challenge will seem pretty straightforward. But here's the catch: every day for the next 12 days we'll be launching a new step in the Quest challenge - each day will count down to 1, Christmas Eve. 12 Days, 12 Quests.

In addition to Screened, we're running Quests over at sister sites Comic Vine and Giant Bomb, so be sure to flex your mental muscles over there as well and earn some of that sweet, sweet XP.

Now, don't be a grinch, check out this classic to get the Quest rolling!

@Daniel: Is there supposed to be a a quest box on the front page? Might be my browser, but I'm not seeing it

Nice idea, Daniel. Cheers. Got the first one fairly easily once I realised that they had to be Academy-won films.. whoops, heh!

I don't see it either, don't worry.

@Joe: Ah, grand. Yeah, I made that mistake too - I mis-read it and thought it had to be Christmas-themed war movies...I could only come up with one

I'll wait till someone makes the quest thread to post my hints, I dunno if I could maintain the official topic with all 12 parts.

Whee, 12 part limited edition quests!  You Top Men sure know how to keep us coming back.

This is a really cool idea.  I guess I'll be questing over the festive period.

They don't all have to be real wars. Hope that helps. :)

Why isn't "The Bridge on the River Kwai" on the list, yo?

I found a flick that should probably have been one of the answers. The list I found had 13 movies, 12 of which are the right targets but one of them mysteriously doesn't trigger anything when you go to it (was the sixth one I tried).  Seems like cheating to force it down to 12.  Regardless, as Emil said in Robocop; "I like it!"

*edit* I guess to be fair, the one that doesn't trigger is about a dude who is simply in the army and it is a revolt not so much a war.  But the flick is categorized as a war movie (in general and on Screened).

@mehughes124: It is, try again. It also might have registered for you but didn't show the pop up.

@phunk_king: I debated adding that one, and decided it wasn't technically a war.

That was a little harder due to my browser chugging a little.
This is a great and maddening idea.

@Daniel: figured that might be the case with that one.

Side note.  Is it bad that I've only seen 3 of these movies?  I know of all of them (except one I have never heard of before) and have meant to watch them but I never have.

@phunk_king: Some of the older ones (30s and 40s) are totally unknown to me.

Done ... I cant believe that the one of the musician isnt considered a war theme flick , heck the entirety of it happens during WWII .....

TBYoOL is one of the finest war movies ever made (IMvHO)...

And I would argue that T. E., while not always following exactly what the British may have wanted was fighting against one of the "Central Powers" with his band of "rebels." Frankly, it has as much to do with its war as the movie you point to in your post does. (provided we are hinting at the same film here, and I think we are)
