I think the title kind of says it all, with the end of our local podcast I've been needing some movie discussion. So far I've tried BBC 5 Live with Kermode and Mayo, which is great but there is a lack of Game of Thrones talk, I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions? Much appreciated.

Dave Chen of the /Filmcast recently began a Game of Thrones spin-off podcast which you might want to check out.

As for general film podcasts, I listen primarily to Filmspotting, Filmspotting: SVU, and the /Filmcast. Before it's unfortunate demise, the IFC News Podcast was my favorite.

@SM5240: Thanks, i'll check them all out.

Operation Kino is absolutely my favorite movie podcast. Give them a listen. They disagree like CRAZY, but they all have good reasons, which is all I ask for.

Spill.com has some good stuff if you're looking for funny banter. I wouldn't go to them if you want completely serious stuff.

@Jesus: Thanks Jesus. @litrock: Also thanks.

I would actually avoid /Film podcast their episodes are very hit or miss but mostly miss.

@Mr_skeleton: Totally agree with this. I used to listen to /Filmcast avidly but it seems of late they just complain about everything with poor justifications why every movie sucks, and then refuse to hear arguments to the contrary. It sucks because their guests are regularly far better at everything than they are, but are drowned out by the snotty attitude.

@litrock: Thanks, I think I will check out Operation Kino until Screened gets a podcast up and running again.

@litrock: Operation Kino is brilliant, I like, as you said; the fact they all have different opinions but they allow each other to explain why. One guy made me really think why I liked Hunger Games so much. @Mr_skeleton: I went and listened to /Filmcast and it just seemed kind of boring, think i'll stick with Kino.

I will back up the spill.com argument, but there are just too many podcasts about different things for me to get into any of them. I do like their audio/video reviews they post though.

The Empire Film Magazine just started a podcast a few weeks ago. It's quite funny and irreverent, not too dissimilar from the Rock, Paper, Shotcast that started recently. They're both quite short and are British so that the subjects that get discussed will be to the UK timetable, but that suits me anyways. I highly recommend them and the Empire one in particular as a screened door replacement.

I just start listening to Operation Kino and it's pretty great. Slashfilmcast is occasionally good, but as others have mention, it can get kind of annoying.

I still listen to the /Filmcast but there are times when I've just had to turn it off because of their arrogance and general disdain for a lot of the big movies that are released. Up until about 18 months ago it was fantastic (any episode with Rian Johnson is a must listen) but it slowly gone downhill since they've all started to get other jobs, Dave Chen posted last night that there won't be any regularity to the show for the foreseeable future anyway because he's off to work at Microsoft.

If you're looking for GoT podcasts, I'm a fan of Cast of Thrones. They are pretty ridiculous and raunchy, which is probably why I like them.

Comedy Film Nerds and Doug Loves Movies are really great podcasts.

@Dylabaloo: My roommate raves about Doug Stanhope Loves Movies, but I can't vouch for it personally.

I like Doug Loves Movies a bit, but it's less about movies than almost any of the other podcasts mentioned in this thread. I really enjoy the Leonard Maltin Game though. I just listened to Operation Kino and except for the sound quality I really, really enjoyed it. Moving onto the Filmspotting podcast next, then to Empire. I have never been able to find enough movie themed podcasts that are actually entertaining to listen to and as informative as I want. The late IFC News Podcast was pretty great, even if I did find it too late.

EDIT UPDATE: I listened to Filmspotting and Empire and I'm going to stick with Empire. It's super good. Filmspotting is good but was too dry for my taste. I'm adding Operation Kino and Empire to my weekly podcast list. Also, if you want to give Doug Loves Movies a go this week is a great time to do it. Two of his guests are Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright. They don't really talk about what they've been writing but they do mention it.

Have any of you given IGN's Keepin' It Reel? It's the only one I ever enjoyed aside from BtSD. I'll have to check out Operation Kino.

@aroundthefur922: I rock to Keepin' it Reel wish they would talk about movies more but as a hey lets talk about the news it makes them a bit unique among movie casts.

I've taken up to listening to ScreenRant Undergroud (though its not exactly wow'd me) and the Mark Kermode John Mayo BBC show in podcast form.
