Hey Matt and Alex. I’ve been a listener of Behind the Screened Door since episode 1; and since the very first episode, Matt has had this obsession of constantly humming the Price is Right theme. It’s almost like an audio bumper between segments.
What’s the story behind Matt’s predilection of this theme? It doesn’t bother me, I just find it peculiar.
Also, we haven’t heard the “It’s been a long road” meme for a while.
Rorie - I do not know. Its not something I did before coming to whiskey media
Rorie - I wish I could explain it.

Yo, Rorie.
I wonder what your thoughts on Kagamusha are. I love most samurai movies but did not like this one at all. I thought it was slow and bad. I wondered if that was just me.
Also, I saw Hara Kiri because of your "You might also like" video and absolutely loved it.
Rorie - Um. I haven't seen it in a long time. I don't remember liking it.
Alex - I know nothing about this movie.
Rorie - I don't think I've seen it since college

Hey Matt and Alex, if you were given the chance to write a new Star Trek series, would you;
A: Break from the fold, and try and do something different? (Like DS9)
B: Stick to the formula, and make more of the same? (Tos,Tng,Ent)
OR
C: Fuck it up and troll the community? (Voy)
Rorie - after 10 years of no treck I think you need to go back to guys in the universer checking things out
Alex - agreed
Rorie - Not that I don't like DS9 but it only works in the context of having next generation before it

Hey Alex and Matt,
Are you guys familiar with Aki Kaurismäki's Leningrad Cowboys Go America? It's one of my favorite road movies of all time and I just wanted to hear your thoughts on it.
Thanks,
Kevin from Boulder CO
Rorie - No
Alex - No
Rorie - Sorry.

Hey guys.
I always find it interesting seeing the trajectory of any given television series throughout its various seasons. Some start fairly weak and get better (The Simpsons), while others start with a bang and get progressively worse (24). That being said, what are some of your favorite and least favorite final seasons of television, because as far as I can tell the final season is either the opportunity to wrap everything up satisfactorily or the last dying gasps of what once was a decent television series.
As always, love the podcast.
Rorie - Homicide has a bad last season
Rorie - DS9 and Next generation had amazing final series
Alex - I didn't really like the DS9 ending
Rorie - It was an odd one, but the overall story arc was good
Rorie - Buffy had a good final few episodes
Alex - I'm struggling. Most programs become really weak
Alex - Mr. Show and Kids in the hall

Dolphin's Tale brings us Morgan Freeman, Kris Kristofferson, Harry Connick Jr. and the first cyborg dolphin on film since Johnny Mnemonic... and the movie, of course, looks TERRIBLE! What movies can you think of that had amazing casts or concepts but absolutely fell apart on execution?
Alex - Heavens' gate
Rorie - A newer film, maybe lady in the water
Alex - one im going to throw out there. Operation End Game.

Hey guys! What horror movie franchise would you like to see go to space, a la Leprechaun 4: In Space or Jason X? Also, what horror movie franchise would you like to see go anywhere ridiculous in general and where would it be?
Rorie - Final destination in space.
Alex - Saw. But they don't know they are in space.
Rorie - A zombie film in sapce?
Alex - Space in the hood? Spacehood!

Hey, guys.
Do directors who have started a downwards spiral ever pick up their game again? I loved Neil Mashall's first two movies Dog Soldiers and The Descent, but his next two, Doomsday and Centurion couldn't really compete. Have your favorite directors ever managed to pull themselves out of a slump, or is there no way back to the old magic?
By the way; Hjels is pronounced "yells".
Rorie - For some reason John Frankenheimer.
Alex - He has had many spells. Oh wait. I think I'm thinking of someone else.

After listening to your discussion about old childhood favorites failing to live up to your nostalgia, I was wondering if you'd ever considered a site segment exploring this topic. Something like a you can't go back kind of thing where you go back and watch an old cartoon show you have fond memories of and then write your thoughts afterwards to see how your outlook has changed. Not sure if you'd agree, but I think that could make for an interesting read.
Rorie - I have thought about it.
Alex - The rose tinted glasses if you would
Rorie - Like does Critters still scare me for example
Rorie - things don't really age well
Alex - but when they do they become classics.
