User Questions

So yeah, I guess I'm gonna get the ball rolling for next week's questions, because I have a pressing question of my own.

What is your favorite twist ending from a horror film?

Rorie - I don't watch much horror

Rorie - Rosemary's Baby has a poor ending

Joey - The original Saw has a great ending

Alex - Saw 2 has an ok twist.

Alex - The ending of the Ring

Alex - And you have to have the ending of the Sixth Sense

What are you guys' opinions on the verging trend of web series' like Mortal Kombat Legacy, Backwash, and so forth of the plenty out there?

Alex - The mortal kombat was one of the more interesting ones. But most of them haven't appealed to me.

Joey - I watched the MK one was fun to watch but not much more.

Hey guys! At what point do you start to consider someone to be "box-office poison"? Your conversation a while back about Anna Faris's less than great movie career has me wondering if it's time to place her in "B.O.P" territory, of if there are other things to consider that would prevent that from being the case. Also, Alex mentioned that he would like to hear someone like Mastodon do a soundtrack, and I wanted to know if he was aware that they did the score for Jonah Hex? (which also featured a cameo from Brent Hinds)

Rorie - It can become a scenario when you are no longer a movie star.

Alex - Kate Bosworth is Box office poison.

I just saw the first minute of Children of Men Bestie, was intrigued, and navigated away from the video because I didn't want to spoil too much of the movie before I saw it. My question is do you think Besties are for people who haven't seen the film, or those who have? Do you think cutting them short once you decided on watching the film is question is the right course of action, or would you recommend watching the full Bestie right off the bat?

Besties: Children of Men

Children of Men makes its way across the coast to the Screened Besties Project.

Rorie - Its a balance. I usually assume people have seen the filmJoey - Since we deal with such a back catalogue of .... (Rorie cuts off Joey)

Rorie - Well we have just finished one for how to train your dragon ...

Rorie - If you look at the Mulholland drive one its basically me running you through plot

Hey crew, is the layout of netflix's site an inhibitor to finding the good content on the site? I believe it is but I would like to know your opinion.

Jake, from Pensacola Florida.

Rorie - Its all market driven. Both sites have invested millions in making sure people find what they are looking for.

Alex - Its kind of balls

Rorie - I like the pop-up recommendation service

If you guys were forced to dress up for Halloween this year, who would you go as?

Also, what is your favorite kind of candy?

Rorie - I didn't. I just hung one with a friend. (Rorie has a weird religious moment)

Rorie - Maybe Breaking Bad.

Alex - Totally

Rorie - But i've not thought of dressing up in ages

Alex - I didn't go out, i didn't dress up.

Happy Halloween gents,

Here's my 5th attempt at this question :) -

How do you guys keep from becoming jaded and cynical about the film and TV industry? Screened has quite a bit of in-built sarcasm but how do you keep it from overwhelming the site/your editorials? Or do you just let the cynicism wash over you and are slowly letting the dark side take over?

Keep up the good work!

Statler and Waldorf
Statler and Waldorf

Alex - BAHHHHHH!!!!!

Rorie - I don't feel that cynical. But the industry is aimed very much at a younger audience. However being 30 means i have an appreciation for good cinematography.

Alex - I'm cynical about everything.

What's your collective opinion on Guy Ritchie? Snatch is one of my favorite movies for no explainable reason, but I find his Sherlock Holmes adaptation to be utterly forgettable.

Alex - Snatch and Lock stock are both great movies

Rorie - I love those black guys

Alex - They are Shakespearean fools.

Joey - He did swapped away which was terrible

Rorie - I don't care for Holmes, its ok but nothing great.

Women of the podcast

Announcement

Hey screened pups,

Next week will be my 50th and last Behind the screened door summary. Something that I started as a bit of fun has finally got to me. The amount of time required to listen to the podcast, take some form of notes and then publish is now devouring an entire evening.

I had planned on going to 52 episodes, so that I’d have done a year’s worth of podcasts, but midway through compiling this summary I realised that I was no longer having any fun whatsoever.

So look forward to next week’s summary as its likely to be my last regular one.

It's too bad that you won't be able to any more of these, but I totally get your reasoning - these things must take ages. Fair play for making it to 50 and thanks for doing the summaries each week!

Women of the Podcast will be sorely missed...
